If you had to chose between the two, what would you rather have?

If you had to chose between the two, what would you rather have? Pillow fists but decent chin or glass chin but decent power?

A lot of people mock fighters with glass chins like Amir Khan and Price but then fighters with relatively weak power like Malignaggi also get mocked. Also pillowfisted fighters tend to envy fighters who have a lot of power like Malignaggi hating on Pacquiao all the time. At least glass chin fighters can be arrogant like Amir Khan.

Would you rather have the "power" of Malignaggi and Provodnikov's chin or Trinidad's power and Amir Khan's chin?

Chin by a mile, getting flattened must be a horrible experience, being on someone else's ko highlight reel. Doesn't come close really.

But a pillowfisted fighter wouldn't have a KO highlight reel on his own though. The feeling of power in boxing and having the hands of stone makes you feel invincible, it's probably horrible for pillowfisted fighters with a decade and more of technical training no being able to develop KO power while some naturally powerful puncher is deadly after only few years. That's why Malignaggi was so butthurt about Pacquiao.

I wonder if there has ever been a top 20 fighter without a knockout on his record?

You can't muscle up a glass chin.

chin and overall punch resistance is far more important than having power. they are so far apart in importance it's like asking would you rather be an elite talent or a club level talent, possible slight exaggeration

Good point. I guess you can still be great with power but no chin, as some have proved. My knee jerk reaction is the horrible humiliated feeling of getting sparked. Some don't get over that. Nothing worse in boxing than seeing a fighter with all the skill and heart in the world getting sparked out, not having the chance to show their true heart. It's like a bad joke for a boxer, lacking in the chin department, do great for 11 rounds and get taken out by a silly punch in the 12th...

Pillow fists of course. Nobody gives a **** if you have a glass chin if you avoid getting hit and KTFO of your opponent.

Would rather have a glass chin but good boxing skill, and power than pillow fists.... Would you rather be Julian Jackson or Malignaggi? Very few elite pillow fisted fighters, Calzaghe and Mayweather are the best examples, but they're exceptions to the rule....
