After his sensational victory on Saturday evening, Mayweather doesn't really have a lot of options from here on out. Sure, there are plenty of opponents, but I think fans and critics will only be satisfied if he took on challenges, much like Manny Pacquiao has done ever since his victory over Oscar De La Hoya. With that in mind, what opponents would you consider acceptable for Floyd in his next outting? I think we can rule out Andre Berto or anyone else at 147lbs not named Manny Pacquiao.

    Thoughts?

Thanks for coming, but more serious answers are what I'm looking for. I'd suggest a Sergio Martinez, a Paul Williams, or the one everyone wants to see, Manny Pacquiao. Besides those three, I don't consider anyone else around 147-160lbs as suitable opponents for Mayweather Jr, the self-proclaimed, 'Greatest fighter of all time'.

Only way he can gain really please fans or at least keep the critics silent is by fighting Pacquiao or moving up. Berto would probably be acceptable and the next best thing though. Cotto would be another choice but only at 154 would it be interesting, can't see Floyd fighting him at all though.

Berto v Floyd is a bigger mismatch than Hatton

I want to see him face manny, that fight is the true test of mayweather as a fighter. If he comes through that aim for the middleweight title against martinez. One of them fights really rubber stamps his legacy, both pushes him at the very least into my top 20, possibly higher.

Pac, Williams, Martinez.... There are other roads to go but he's got the momentum and fans back on his side so without those three it's downhill. And really Williams and Martinez would be great fights they don't bring the same household name as Pac or even Mosley.

I agree, if SSM isn't a PPV draw then Sergio and Paul aren't.

The only fight Floyd can make that will pay him what he wants is Manny. PBF/Manny will happen out of necessity.

He said he tried to come in at 152 but he could barely gain weight despite eating 3 meals.

Why would you want a great fighter who is a full fledged welter fighting smaller guys. The man only has a few left at this point he should push the limit.
