Go join the party at 168? Stay at 160 and try to make it work by meeting? Stay, get a rematch, and then what? Here is a must-see video about Pavlik's carreer and future...: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhk33VAwY7k[/ame]
Sit down decide wether he wants to dedicated himself properly , Address his mental issues since Hopkins , realise he is still a young guy and rebuild.
seems adamant he wants a re-match. I just think Martinez beats him worse. he is still a big name for anyone coming out of the Super 6 or Bute.
Another good video about where Pavlik can go. The cool thing is that this was made BEFORE the fight, but everything is running according to the plan in this vid: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSycdBxs3AU&feature=related[/ame]
The realization that he is this generation's Gerry Cooney. Binge drinking Training to "double up the ****ing jab" while still moving as if he's wearing clown shoes
I have to say that i totaly disagree with the people who say Pavlik should not go for the rematch. He was the middleweight champ and i see it no other way but for Kelly to try and regain his middleweight title. Now that Pavlik seen first hand what Martinez is about,he can try and make some adjustments for the foot speed and movement that Sergio has. The fight was there for the taking for Pavlik. He did show signs of ad******g in the middle rounds. He was cut, then lost big in the championship rounds. He did give Martinez trouble at times with his size, and with a good gameplan IMO Pavlik has a shot at regaining his straps. Going to 168lbs right now is not the answer. There are fighters there who can also box well with realy good movement and hit harder then Martinez.Lucian Bute,Andre dirrell,Ward to name a few. If Pavlik is serious about continuing his career then he must go for the rematch. He is still very young and if all else fails and he loses the rematch and still wants to fight after that,he should then think about starting over and going to 168lbs. If making 160lbs is a serious problem for Pavlik, then thats a whole nother issue. He might have to move up.But thats to be heard. For Pavlik to continue fighting and just walk away from the rematch and his titles would be the foolish move. I say "GO FOR IT" Kelly... See it no other way.
Step 1: Get himself together. If his outside the ring rumors are true, get his life together outside of the ring. Inside of the ring get passed the ghost of his last two beatings. Step 2: Get a new freaking corner. Step 3: If he can still make 160, do a rematch with Sergio or get a fight with Williams and not squabble over the split. If he can't make 160 anymore, start off with a soft touch at 168 to transition, and then perhaps start go to a guy like Librado Andrade a guy with some name recognition but who is beatable and a fight that Pavlik should win if he gets himself together. After that, pursue some challenges at 168. The problem is, other than Sergio and Williams 160 is a barren wasteland and at 168 I don't see Pavlik being more than a decent contender and with most of the best fighters(not named Bute) tied up for a while with the super 6.
