I've seen videos in recent days from Hatton himself and his lawyer, with them both saying that they won't budge from 50/50 and never have - in these neogotiations. I think Pacquiao is worth more myself, as he has beaten more big name fighters, has just come off a win against the biggest name in the sport, is on a long hot streak, is generally more accomplished and is the most entertaining fighter in the sport and P4P 1 at the moment. Hatton is the light-welterweight champion and brings in the money from the UK (although only against a top-notch foe). What is Pacquiao worth in terms of split (%)?
He's worth what he got, around 50/50. Hatton brings more money, Pac is the P4P number 1. Money pays the purses, not P4P rankings or past opponents. It might not be fair but thats the reality of the situation.
voted 60-40. my guess is he is being undervalued by most people because they still feel pac is a little man and they should not be paid higher than guys who fights at welter and up.
Still it's not signed though. Pac is angling for at least 52/48 I hear and that is at least what he seems to have verbally agreed to right now, but the extra is from Arum's split. I think in principle Pac should get more and Hatton should be willing to make this small concession to have a shot at the "pound-for-pound title" once more and the extra should come from Hatton's purse. I don't personally care about the money as long as the fight gets made, but if it gets made with Hatton still on his "50" then I think it'll just fuel Pac's beating of him.
Pac is getting recognition for his P4P status and achievements by getting 50/50. If this was a pure money fight based on who brought what money into the fight he'd probably be looking at the short end of a 60/40 split. The fact he is who he is is getting him at least another couple of million dollars out of the fight.
Apparently Pacs signed the 50/50 with an extra sweetener from Arum. Arum can't make the split 52/48 by giving HIS money to Pac, its still 50/50. People saying Pac will be "mad" or extra motivated because of the split are way off the mark, fighters like Hatton and Pac don't need **** like that to get themselves motivated or in the zone on fight night, that nonsense is for the cheerleaders. I also don't buy all this fighting for the P4P title, its not won and lost like that. If Hatton beats Pac I'd have him no higher than number 3.
In his "aristocratic" rant, Schaefer said that Pac should be on 40/60 really, although I don't think most fans think that Hatton should recieve more, and that he in-fact, should budge in neogotiations if he really wants the fight as he seems adamant on half-half. Yeah, I don't think Hatton will be number 1 if he wins, but the p4p "crown" does appear to be one of his motivations.
that what pisses pac more and that pac was even given a deadline to sign the deal in hatton's terms. :-(
