Precisely my point! If Schumacher wasn't fast in driving and didn't win races, he won't be in front of the grid and he won't be putting the Ferrari badge in newspapers and on TV's, respectively! Otherwise, if he didn't produce any podium results Ferrari would deem him not worthy of the millions they pay him and would have traded him to another driver!

Any professional athlete obviously sell themselves especially their skills (not their popularity).... it's not something exclusive to boxers! How can you ask someone to hire you to play basketball if you don't know how to play in the first place! Do you expect yourself to be hired by Ferrari simply because you know how to drive and have a Ferrari car? Of course not! Do you expect Bob Arum to promote you, let alone negotiate for a lion's share of the purse, simply because you're a High School hearththrob? Obviously not!:deal

Oh come on, thats a ridiculous set of examples!!! Of course athletes have to be at least proficient at the sport, no ones saying they dont but Hatton and Pac are both world class boxers. Sports is full of examples of popular players who get paid more than they would otherwise if wages were based purely on skill or achievements. Most sports are run as businesses, boxing is no exception.

No. Pac is on the elite circle. Hatton tried and failed miserably. He's just knocking once again...

What do you mean "no?" Boxing in'ts a business? Hatton and Pac arn't world class boxers? Popular athletes can't earn more than unpopular athletes?

My point was they are still both world class boxers, way above the novice level which was the example I was replying to.

WTF is "on the elite circle" supposed to mean anyway?

He was number 1 before jumping 12 lbs to beat de la Hoya.

I said 55/45 but 52/48 would suffice and it looks like 50/50 with a guarateed highest purse right now. It's not like its Pernell Whittaker or Juan Manuel Marquez against Hatton, who don't have as many fans or a fan-friendly style as Pacquiao is the most exciting fighter at the moment so in any mega-fight with a top foe he'd draw his fare share.

If it was just the US money then it'd be 60/40 for Pacquiao like it was for Mayweather against Hatton.

Mayweather-Hatton was 70-30 but Hatton kept the UK PPV rights and made a killing. Seeing as Pac is sharing the UK money 50/50 is more than fair.

Honestly with the UK money on the table Pac is making off like a bandate at 50/50. Cause the UK ppvs are going to be just as big if not bigger then the US numbers.

Looks like 60/40 are winning at the poll, 55/45 comes second.

    My take is 55/45.....

Pls remember Hatton last fight if its PPV success or not.

LOL, maybe Hamilton but not the Schu. Schumacher transformed Ferrari into contenders again, from 1996 to 2000 the Ferrari's were at least 0.5 seconds off the pace of the Williams and the McLarens, it was Schumacher who made the difference and made Ferrari competitive.

On topic: 52/48 seems reasonable imho
