It has to be Ricky Hatton. Most of his notable wins his opponents were somewhat compromised to severely compromised. Even Hatton had his chin obliterated just prior by Mayweather.
Never actually watched Barrera. From the fights I saw Cotto. The interesting thing about that fight was Cotto had a really good 2nd round and was outboxing Pacquiao until he got greedy at the end of the round and got knocked down heavily. He never recovered from that. At least that is how I remember it.
He was certainly in orbit at the least. This content is protected A peak Foreman couldn't have bettered that connection.
Probably not. Most of the top fighters these days are slow walked and protected. Pacquiao burst onto the scene and was going after great fighters before he was 25. Too many promoters and fighters these days play it safe.
I doubt it. Even if we had a fighter with his level of ability, there's no guarantee he'd have the same need to consistently test himself against the best again and again and even if he did, there's no guarantee he'd have a whole bunch of great fighters like Barerra, Morales, De LaHoya, Hatton, JMM, Cotto and Mayweather with their high profiles to test himself against. It really was a great era, you look at 126 to 147 now and it's nowhere near as stacked and lacks the kind of big name draws Pac's era had that allowed Pac to go on such an incredible run.
He's a fighter that comes once in a lifetime. You won't see anyone like him for a long time. We're at least fortunate to have witness his exciting run though.
The fevour-pitch 'Pacmania' of '09 is guilty of slightly overselling the Cotto win. Barrera 1 is the best.
No he has not surpassed Manny. But I do think Usyk is an A+ fighter. By my count there are only four A+ fighters this century. Which are RJJ, Mayweather, Pacquiao and Usyk.
