    Your thoughts?

i was just browsing through some rankings and was suprised to see Rendall Munroe in at 10 with boxrec,

Is he a world beater? im not sure he could last with the top dogs just yet despite his world ranking at 10 with boxrec, with the likes of Caballero, Lopez, Marquez, Vasquez and Molitor all in the top 10.

I like him and hopes he gets a shot before 2011 but he needs sterner tests at "world" level before making the jump, because lets face it theres a bit of a difference between English/European level and world level of competition when suer bantam weights concerned

He's a pretty good body puncher, has proven durable at European level, and he's big at the weight, good strength, stamina and a southpaw. He's improving aswell, defensively he's more aware and he tries to establish the jab. But he's not much of a puncher and his footwork at times can look a little flat. Personally, I think if he fights Nishioka as he's been stated to, I think Nishioka beats him.

I'd say he would fall short at genuine world level, but he would certainly give any fighter a test, live underdog at worst.

Excellent stamina and seemingly a rock solid chin, very strong both early in the fight and down the stretch.

He might pick up a vacant title at some stage and would be able to defend it against the right opposition.

I like him, only seen him once in his last fight with Maludrottu, which I had a draw.

Awesome workrate, good chin, god stamina but defensively flawed and does not punch with authority.

Could be a top 10 fighter at world level for long periods but will never be top 5 or the man.

If he gave up the day job and concentrated on boxing he might be able to improve his punch technique :yep

I don't know why he still does it. Maybe his heart just isn't completely into boxing. I know he tries to justify keeping the day-job by saying it's the key to his stamina. Surely more intensive, proper road-work replacing that would be even better? And it probably won't kill as much of the day, so he can spend a few extra hours in the gym improving his technique and punch-delivery.

yeah ill agree with you there i thik he needs to learn to sit down on his punches a bit more, a very good all round fighter non the less,

i was supposed to post this thread in the brit forum, didnt realise i had it in the main

I don't see it as a problem with his roadwork, he can do sprints, jogs and walks.

It is the technical side where he could do with improving..... a few fights have been won with his awkwardness and ring IQ - which is exceptionally high by comparison with other British fighters.

Maybe Maloney doesn't pay particularly well...... Rendall is a decent ticket seller but he is never going to set himself up for life in boxing..... or perhaps he is one of those that needs to be busy all the time. From a feature in Boxing Monthly a while back he does his shift then to the gym, where no doubt he does the same work as any other boxer would.

A lot of successful sports people have combined a day job with their sport - Brett Lee worked at a gents outfitters until the 2001 Ashes tour, which was about 18 months after his first Test for Australia.

His stamina is excellent and therefore not a problem, but my point is he's working probably a standard 9-5 when he could quit the day job, do a couple hours roadwork in the morning the maintain his endurance, and then spend the other remaining hours in the gym working on the technical aspect. I think the day-job is taking up time that could be spent in the gym, that's all.

I think he's just about reached his potential. Under the absolute perfect circumstances, he could be a titlist, but I suspect he'll get smashed by Nishioka.

As mentioned above though, if he starts boxing full-time, he could improve, although I just don't see the natural talent to become elite, even if he does improve his technique.

he has reached his level , his technique is horrible and cant punch with any power even though he is a monster for the weight

he will be found out soon enough

dunne would out box him no problem if they met
