exactly What is meant by Ring generalship? a world class fighter knows his way around the ring or he wouldn't be world class, why then is it a criteria for scoring. does it mean? does it mean moving fluidly around the ring?

because that just means the guy who seems to moving with greater, ease, flamboyance and style which is subjective and has little to do with who is actually landing punches and kicking ass

Take Rocky Marciano, to the untrained eye he looks awkward and crude and seems not to move well....what of his ring generalship?

    explain?

Dictating the spacing, tempo, and type of action. A boxer using footwork and angles to keep a puncher off him or a puncher coming behind a jab/head movement to get the fight at his distance are the clearest examples.

cant you deny youre opponent while not doing **** yourself? like the stall in basketball before the 24 second clock. or like a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation in soccer/football

the main criteria is punching duh. Ring Genralship is just what you would go to if both boxers are even the clean effective punching

It's used too often to determine a round win that's for sure.

It's hard to say most boxers know their way around the ring the only ones id say who dont are people like
    Khan, Maidana, Ortiz, Kirkland, Rios
They come forward in straight lines and go back in straight lines and get themselves into stupid situations in the ring

It's just a loose term like "octagon control" in mma and should be the last criteria to score a fight

Ring Generalship is when a fighter controls the ring, controls the pace of the fight and dictates how the fight plays out.

Canelos performance is a perfect example of this, He instead of being what we have seen him be before, decided to box in this fight, leaving Trout without a plan B, in other words.

Canelo fought the fight he trained to fight, which prevented Trout from fighting the fight he trained to fight, he expected a different Canelo the one from the Lopez and gomez fight the come forward guy with the funky shoulder roll etc....

He never expected Saul to box like that, and when Saul boxed like that you saw an entirely different Trout, who could not get off his right hook leads or his lead left hands, he was missing with shots, head hunting and hit nothing but air.

Saul was able to dictate when he wanted the throw and when he wanted to make Trout work a miss....

in a nut shell Ring Generalship is when you are controlling the flow of the fight while taking your opponent out of his game.

Another example of Good Ring Generalship is Mayweather vs Corrales, he made it his type of fight, kept Chico thinking, tagged Chico for every mistake took him entirely out of his game....

Lennox Lewis vs Holyfield fight 1 thats ring general ship.....

to me its when you take your opponent out of his game and keep him from fighting his fight.

But some fans call guys with ring generalship runners and get hyped up on Rios quality and get angry when fighters with superior ring generalship gets out of harms way because they expect every fighter to stand and take punches just so they can appreciate him :patsch

 I know, some people can't appreciate pure boxers, people like Hopkins and Rigo are always trying to make traps and get you to square up etc
People will just see it as running
