Why are you and others so touchy about people questioning Tyson's greatness. I personally dont think Spinks had the style to beat Tyspn - it was a quick blowout it wasn't even a fight. Tyson didnt prove he was invincible that night - Spinks for all his past achievements was hopeless that night. Tunney beat Jack Dempsey. Why keep mentioning height and weight I meant pound for pound Tunney vs Tyson.

Im not on a mission to discredit Tyson I also listed my top 10 heavyweights of all time recently and had Tyson at number 9.

I watched the fight when it happened, and I thought Tyson would finish the job quickly, a couple of rounds, but I never thought 90 odd seconds!!!! It was a good win for Tyson, as he was the man that beat the man.

Ali, Futch, Zale, Graziano, commentator Don Dumphy, and journalist Wallace Matthews all picked Spinks to outpysche and outbox Tyson.

All this hype about Tyson-Spinks as an "amazing" victory by an "incredible" Tyson has gotten old very fast.

Sure, Mike performed very well and stuff; but we can“t consider his victory like something special or amazing.

Beating a scared rabbit, like Spinks was that night, is not a major accomplishment in my book.

Like LHW Spinks was good, but as HW he was more hype job than anything. Tyson beat him good, but I can think of lots of guys who had beaten easily Spinks that night too.

    A good victory? Yes
    A great victory? No way

Yes, I remember this. I believe it's in one of Tyson's books by Peter Heller. Or maybe even Jose Torres's book? In any case, Spinks was a 4-1 underdog that many felt would be Tyson's toughest foe. He'd never been knocked down, never lost, and even had people thinking Tyson was dukking him!

Spinks legitimized his heavyweight credentials by pummeling a big C00ney that still had something left or C00ney wouldn't have gone after him. Would've been nice to see a Spinks-Holyfield fight too!

Really? Who else beats SPinks in that emphatic fashion?
