What is sweet science? Alexander's ineffective volume or Kotelnik's clean punching?

The thread starter should did give us non-bias option, shanking head. Anyway, more power punches were connected by Alexander and he easily won the first half of the fight. Alexander, also closed out the fight better.

The sweet science is about hit and don't be hit. The unsweet science is about using volume punching to trick the judges and fans who are confused/biased about the scoring criteria (effective agression) and can't tell which shots are landing.

Ray Oliveria v The Incredible Mister Augustus springs to mind. Be amazed as you watch a guy take a beating despite throwing 140+ punches in a round.:yep

Who outlanded his opponent by over 100 punches.

Truth is that most people do not even know or care what constitutes effective boxing. Whatever their guy is doing is the criterion of the moment for scoring. If Kotelink and Alexander had reversed roles, then all of Alexanders' supporters would be claiming they preferred the style that in effect, should have won Kotelnik the fight.

Same obviously applies to the first four rounds of Pirog and Jacobs. If you catch my drift!!!

It is a shame how they robbed Kotelnik in that fight.

All I know is that Devon better learn some defense. I don't care how good his chin is, if he keeps getting hit clean like that, his chin will crack.

:goodGood post and I agree Kotelnik shouldn't have gave away the early rounds. As far as who I thought won, don't know I haven't scored it yet. I am an Alexander fan and hopefully he has a great performance in his next fight. Overall, Alexander-Kotelnik was a great fight but Kotelnik like you said should've tried much harder to knock him out also since he was fighting in his opponent's hometown. I love your avatar btw lol.

You don't need to repeat yourself bud, I agree it wasn't a robbery just a close fight. Also, Devon did land a few good shots on Kotelnik but was doing the same 1-1-2 combo alot. He needs to work on his combination punching but it's not unreasonable to score the fight for him.
