What is Taylor going to try this time around? What will his strategy be?

I would imagine his strategy is going to be to box Pavlik. Stick and move... work behind the jab and use lateral movement to turn Pavlik and keep him from setting up to throw those vicious power shots.

    That being said:

    1) I don't think Taylor has the stamina to go 12 rounds with Pavlik. Pavlik has a solid work-rate and Taylor does not do well if he has to throw more than 40 punches a round.

    2) I don't believe Taylor has the boxing craft or the mental toughness to be disciplined enough to box consistently over 12 rounds. Pavlik will catch him, and hurt him again. I've heard many times that, "Taylor is a boxer/puncher, etc." ... I'm still waiting to see this good boxer that he supposedly is. He's looked terrible in his recent bouts and has regressed considerably. Taylor seems to lack some basic fundamentals and does not adjust well inside the ring.

    3) Pavlik was winning the jabbing contest in the first fight. Pavlik's jab is stiff and punishing where Taylor just flicks his out there without committing. Pavlik steps into his jab, Taylor throws an "arm" punch. It'll be interesting to see how Taylor can outbox Pavlik without improving his jab... Pavlik's jab is superior in my opinion and fights behind a jab much more efficiently than Taylor. Pavlik is more "effective" with the jab and definitely uses it better strategically in the ring.

    4) Taylor consistently lowers his left hand and keeps it down by his hip. If that wasn't bad enough, he has a "nervous tick" or a habit to tap his forehead with his glove before bringing it down. He telegraphs the lowering of his left hand against a guy who has a devastating right hand. lol

    5) Pavlik took Taylor's best and hardest shots (like 5 direct hits) and got up by the count of 3. Taylor took Pavlik's best shots and got put to sleep in a corner.

I think Pavlik stops Taylor in 9 rounds or less and has Taylor's number.

I've posted my views numerous times, but after reading some recent interviews I've narrowed things down to the one scenario I think is most likely.

JT seems to honestly believe that all he has to do is recreate round 2 of the first fight, and finish the job. The problem here is that Kelly is a smart kid who gets better with each fight. He won't be sticking his chin out like a jack ass in the rematch. That means the round 2 debacle will not happen again. JT cannot win a war of attrition against Pavlik, but I do believe he is going to try to. He is going to bull rush Kelly from the opening bell, but it won't work. Even when taylor had Pavlik hurt bad he still couldn't back him up, and at this point in time, if you can't back Pavlik up, you can't beat him unless you can outbox him for 12 rounds. I really feel that all those who are predicting that Taylor is going to try an box his way to a decision are wrong. He is pinning all his hopes on an early KO. The problem is that the round 2 situation in the first fight was the result of Kelly doing something stupid that he won't do again. Pavlik KO5 Taylor.

Kelly is gonna get busted up in this fight. Early too, I don't think he will gass like last time and he will have enough to finish the job.

What are you basing this opinion on? Kelly, is quicker and stronger at this weight. He is already at fight weight. He will not have to kill himself to get down. Early on, I said it would end in 7, but I am now saying 5 or less.

Taylor will try to use more lateral movement, keeping a jab in Pavlik's face, hoping to outbox him from a distance. I expect him to give more angles and keep Pavlik turning. Expect him to do some more counter punching as well.

I tend to agree with this. I dont think Taylor will try and make a brawl out of it, because he knows he ran out of gas and didnt recover in the first fight. I look for him to box and move, but Pavlik will just have to keep the pressure up and try to establish his jab first. This fight will be about whose style can establish the jab the first. Im slightly leaning towards Pavlik by late round KO, I think Taylor has some sort of weakness with his conditioning.

I agree that JT would have to move in circles and to his left side to keep KP from setting him up for the right hand, but he can't just jab and move cuz Pavlik has a more accurate, longer jab than he has... The key must be around that disciplined movement, fighting in short combinations though, tyin him up and getting off. Jermain Taylor has faster hands and Kelly Pavlik is slower moving on his feet. In theory, JT can pull it out but he'll have to put himself in the position of the counter-puncher fighting on the back foot and concede to KP the stalker-aggressor role and that is an extremelly difficult thing to plan in such a short period of time after the first fight.

like most have stated taylor is going to try to make this an outside fight by using a jab (which was working at times in the fight)m however it just so happens that kelly is great at backing fighters down and hits very hard. For taylor to win the key is to stay off the ropes, should be an interesting one nonetheless.

When you get knocked out--like JT did--you just can't forget it.
This isn't like Lewis-Rahman, Pav took JT's best shots and busted thru his defense to leave him in a heap.
I think Pav busts thru JT again--say round 6.

I have my money on the "NOT getting KTFO strategy." I'm a JT fan, but I'm picking Pavlik, I hope I'm wrong though.

I feel Taylor will be a lot less cautious this time round, in his last few fights he's been very cautious, and it was his downfall against Pavlik, he will use his jab a lot more, and try and lot more tougher punches. I wouldn't be suprised to see him trade with Pavlik A LITTLE BIT, wether if works we will have to wait and see.

For victory, Taylor has to win it before round 7 by tko/ko. He needs to jab like a mother, punch hard crisp combinations but not just swing for the fences, even if Pavlik is hurt. He needs to pick his spots for offense and keep his guard up to defend and not waste any energy. If he can do this he may have a chance. These are big ifs though. He's never stuck to a game plan before, he has stamina isues, and he he'll have Pavlik's fists flying at him
