Looked up which belts had the most number 1 ranked fighters as there champions. WBO has 7 - W. Klitscko, Pavlik, Pacquiao, Bradley, JM Marquez, Navarez, Calderon WBA has 5 - Ward, John, Cabalerro, Darchinyan, Gonzalez WBC has 4 - Pavlik, Martinez, Hasegawa, Darchinyan IBF has 3 - Klitscko, Guerrero, Cabalerro Think its pretty intresting, the WBO gets the most critisicm in terms of being a meaningless belt but its held by the most number 1 fighters. Guerrero is the only IBF champion that doesnt hold another belt, and he is going to vacate to move up to lightweight apparently. We could just start ignoreing the IBF as a title all together.
But it depends who you consider number one in the division and also when you ask the question, e.g. I'd say Mosley was number one at welter and he holds the WBA and also Bradley recently vacated the WBC title. Another perspective might be to look at which belt has the most champions who aren't in the top 3/4 at the weight. WBO and stieglitz immediately springs to mind. Quite inteteresting nonetheless since most would deem the WBO the weakest.
Lowest ranked champion for each belt WBC has 5 - Alexander, Rojas, Nishioka, Naito, Mayol WBA has 5 - Haye, Shumenov, Senchenko, Moses, Sidorenko WBO has 3 - Steilgrtiz, Arce, Nietes IBF has 1 - Sylvester using a points system to off subtracting the number of weakest champions from the number of highest ranked champions you get. WBO +4 IBF +2 WBA 0 WBC -1
I like the alphabet we use at the moment, I would say it is the best. The Latin alphabet is quite hard to understand if you do not speak latin IMO.
Thats one of those wahayyy comments, did you do a drum and symbol crash after it!!? I think now all of them are as good/bad as each other, there should be just one, but theres no way there will be.
None. The Ring title is a pile of **** as well..... any mag can create champions. Even the Brit forum has it's own champions
Yeh, I even chuckled to myself at it. Incredibly corny. Anyway I disregard any titles and just look at the fighters and form my own opinions.
Saying that at least ours is better than Chinese's, they don't have an alphabet?! How the **** do they box?!?!?!?
For my money it is the WBC Title... But the WBO has made a lot fighters a lot of money...even the WBU has earn't a certain few fighters a few quid...:yep If I had it my way it would be 8 weights and 8 straps end of...:good
The belts are only as valid as the boxers that win them. Obviously the WBO belt was held in low esteem by so long as many fighters who won it decided to stay in their own countries and fight domestic rivals. However when a good fighter picks it up and fights other good fighters the belt has a bigger value. Hence Manny Pacquiao 'the best fighter of our time' being a seven weight world champion despite some of those belts being very dubious. A lesser fighter winning the IBO light welterweight title probably wouldnt be considered a world champion.
