Bellew is a nice money maker, it gets his name out there (kind of) and sort of introduces him to the heavyweight scene. If he wants to skip the money, but go straight for the respect, it has to be Ortiz. They’re the same height, and Ortiz has huge respect right now, to the point where some think Wilder needs to give him a rematch. If Usyk can make him look silly for 12 rounds, he’s then instantly in the mix.
Bellew would be the least risk and be the best in terms of helping his future drawing power. Ortiz would win him the most respect. I don't want to see Ortiz and Usyk fight though; I'd favor Usyk in that one, and Ortiz deserves better. Ortiz pro ably beats anyone not named AJ or Wilder currently in the division, but can't get the fights to prove it. Would be a shame if he lost to the two best fighters he faced, his rep would take an unfair hit.
My choice would be either Briedis rematch or a top10 HW next. But they’ll probably go after a low risk&high reward (which is well deserved) right now. So, Bellew It is.
Briedis rematch, Dorticos, Shumenov, or Lebedev seem like great options. I hope he stays at CW and attempts to become the divisions' historical best as opposed to chasing the HW dream. I suspect he faces Bellew at HW next followed by Charr/Oquendo winner.
