Depends on your style and your ability.
So basically... what is your style and what can you do?
Counter puncher? boxer-puncer? Volume puncher? Slick? what....

There ain't. Different guys do different things best. There's plenty who'ld tell you that offense is the best defense, and it might be true for them.

i'm tall for my weight so i like to jab and throw straight punches and stay on the outside but if my opponent gets inside then thats fine i like to throw hooks and uppercuts.

Sounds like you are a range fighter who prefers outside. If you have good reach and height is best to fight on the outside anyways. Having long arms is already useful for defense.

Conventional defense is best for you.

You sound like me...I'm pretty tall for my weight (140.) I use the shoulder roll to block cause I'm a counter-puncher. What is your weight? Your fighting style?

Damn! With that size, you really don't need to be fancy. You will be a handful just with your size alone. There is no need for you to use Philly shell which is a counter puncher style/in fighting defense.

Use your jab and keep your opponent at bay will be your biggest defense tool. If they get close, tied them up and get back to your range.

Ye i thought that is how i should box but i really need to put on some weight but i am only 17 so haven't filled out yet but i bought some creatine the other day that is supposed to make you gain 4 - 6 pound in water weight in your muscles and it increases your power, i have been using it for a couple of days now but haven't gained any weight yet but it does help me reach a few more reps in weight training

BB - you noticed the Forum entitled 'Training'?

There's some good guys in there, an' if you're actually wanting information about doing it rather than talking 'bout it, you'll probably get more practical info an' less bull****.:thumbsup
