Rdj,could you give me just a rough idea of a good diet please? Just to give you an idea at the min mine is. Breakfast: porridge with almonds n Honey I'll then have a black coffee mid morning. Lunch:generally something like mackerel/sardines on slice of wholemeal toast or omelette or jacket potato and beans. Dinner:fish or chicken with veg and sweet potato. I'm also drinking about 3 litres of water and snack on a couple of pieces of fruit. Cheers:good
At the minute yeah,I'm trying to lose a bit of weight I put as been off my feet with long term injury,I'm still not quite back in full training it's football I train for if that makes any difference? A problem I have is once I get to weight I want to be,I'm not sure what to eat to maintain the weight while still training?
My view is it is always better to get you protein and carbs from real food as opposed to supplements. A lot of people take protein powder but I think it isn't as well absorbed and slowly released as something like a chicken breast or oily fish. The only time I take supplements is directly after training when I take a sugary isotonic drink and a protein shake. I find this helps with recovery as it quickly re-hydrates you, adds glycogen to the muscles and post workout is the period when your body can utilizes protein the most efficiently. I find I don't wake up as tired in the morning after training when I take the drinks. Everyone is different but I generally feel better when I eat a decent amount of protein from chicken, fish and steak.
