Yes. Clinch a lot. Do work from distance and turn him. If he is good enough to get inside? GRAB. It only takes one punch to end the fight but you will be working on stopping him coming in NUMEROUS times by turning him. You are bound to mess up or he may adjust. If he gets in? GRAB! Feint too.
once i had a figth against some one that was heavy handed and i thought if i just boxed and didnt go toe to toe i would be ok but he could box to and was fast as ****
with your chin hahaha dont let him set his feet if he is a power puncher most likely he will need to set to land power. Keep moving and box him on the outside and hands up...
Move in and out working the body early on. If he is using a textbook guard to cover his chin land some big ish shots to his sholders and biceps this should take some impact out of his blows for a whilst.
im not a coach but from my personal experience.....hands up, be first, be busy, take ur shots and move and probably da most important DO NOT POSE!!!! that stand there in front of him doing nothing even for 1 sec!
Most punchers lose they're power if you can force them on the back foot. The problem being, walking them down leads to you adding your onward movement to the weight of their punches. I'd say the best way is to keep them on the back foot. I sparred with a few big punchers. One in particular who beat a world champion- and once he was on the back foot he was ineffective. Then its down to the puncher to create openings and move more intelligently then you.
Pressure. I don't know too many guys who can hit hard while backing up. trust me, he is used to guys trying to stick and move with him. Get inside his power and push him around. Easier said than done, but if you try to dance with him he will likely find you sooner or later.
