What is the difference between and a Manager and a Promoter, with regards to the direction of the career of a fighter?

a promoter put up the money to host the fight, he also responsible for the venue and purses paid to the fighters. The promoter make his money from the gate and television broadcast and advertising, which is why the less the promoter can pays the fighters the more money he gets to pocket. This is why you see promoter making offer to the fighter off the top before the fight is sold.

The manager is the person looking after the fighter's best interest not the promoter, the manage make sure the fighter gets a fair portion of the purse and gate if he is able negotiate the fighter into a good position to do so. The manage also negotiate fight contract with the promoter and manager of other fighters.

It is a conflict of interest if the fighter manager is his promoter, or the manager works for the promoter.

Especially true for Shane Mosley when his now ex-wife was running the operation! There's probably tons of money and contracts he's never going to know about. :blood
