Does it add any value to boxing?

The fighter that garners media’s attention when he fights.

''The company figurehead, also known as the 'ace' in Japan, is the worker who is positioned as the face of the company; not only do shows generally revolve around them, but they are also the primary focus of all the marketing and merchandising that the company does. A strong figurehead can massively boost business and help a company prosper.''

Pretty much the same thing in boxing.

**** tgr media then. Let's say Tank is now the new face of boxing. I'd say that he's not the best even at 135.

I'm immediately thinking Inoue as the 'ace' and rightly so. Is it just backwards in the west then atm

I get popular in the context. Successful financially. Doesn't equate to ability though

Is 'the face of boxing' healthy for boxing in its current state?

I'd rather it was the boxers that had been there, done it and have valuable reflections

You don't have to be the best. Its about marketability. As of right now its Canelo. His fights are major PPV. He appears on commercials. No other boxer currently comes close.

A fighter that is so widely accepted by the general public that companies are willing to pay him to endorse their products.

So should the most marketable person in boxing have a sway in the market of boxing?
