Willie dewitt got his ass whupped by Burt Cooper pretty good, yeah there are better ones but that one just popped in my mind.
Gatti-Gamache. Horrible mismatch. Margarito-Cotto. Cemented the legacies of two boxers ( pun intended).
The Dempsey-Willard fight is of course the template for this thread. But other notable beatdowns are: -Wilfredo Gomez v Derrick Holmes - Holmes down 8 times in 5 rounds with a broken jaw to boot. -The first Archie Moore v Jimmy Bivins fight - Bivins dropped Archie 6 times in 6 rounds and he was actually counted out in the 2nd if not for the overeager Bivins clipping him when down. He was given time to recover, but that only prolonged the pain. -Jimmy Carter v Tommy Collins - Collins down 10 times in 4 rounds and was only stopped when his corner entered the ring to stop it.
Boxingwise probably the Vitali - Briggs fight. I'm amazed Briggs is still healthy, nevermind actually boxing, after that. The dude is a tank. In just "fighting" look to Vovchanchyn / Carvahlo or Vov / Inoue. In the latter it seriously looked like somebody was being beaten to death in front of the cameras and nobody was going to do anything about it.
Tyson biggs .Biggs took a real hammering .at the time lots of pundits fancied Biggs boy were they wrong.
It's because of Dempsey's actions in this fight, that the neutral corner rule was introduced in the event of knockdowns: every time Dempsey dropped Willard, Dempsey was standing over him, ready to hammer Willard back down. Willard's face was, apparently, a broken, bloodied, swollen mess asva result of Dempsey's onslaught. *You could probably add Jack Johnson vs Tommy Burns, Jack Johnson vs Jim Jeffries, Joe Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy, Kid Gavilan vs Chuck Davey, and Rocky Marciano vs Don ****ell to this list.
