I've already deducted a point from povetkin for his 'dumb and dumber' inspired haircut

It is too expensive for free tv channels but chargeable channels will show it like they do with our own boys too.

If you're one of the many who no longer recognize The Ring's ratings as the guiding authority but recognize the sport's need for clean, authoritative rankings, and you reject any path to a vacant championship that doesn't include the #1 ranked contender fighting the #2 ranked contender, then this fight does have considerable significance.

It's the first time since 1988, when Tyson stopped Spinks, that the two top-ranked contenders (according to then-uncompromised RING) fought in the same ring.

It's been four months shy of 10 years since Lennox Lewis retired and that strain of the heavyweight succession ended. It's been that long since boxing has had a true heavyweight champion.

    See this for more details:

--I'm over here praying that the fight isn't a robbery or a draw.

how can you say boxing hasn't had a true champion since lennox lewis when wlad is clearly the best in the division?

Read that article in the previous post.

In sum, Wlad is clearly the best in the division; he is the premiere heavyweight in the world but that status doesn't necessarily mean that he is the champion.

Boxing history is replete with examples of premiere fighters in a division who were not, or never became the world champion (always singular). Charley Burley never became a champion. Ezzard Charles never became light heavyweight champion. Archie Moore and Sugar Ray Robinson were the best long before they took thrones in their natural divisions.

It should not be only purists who say that a vacant throne can only be filled when #1 fights #2 and a victor emerges. What the hell else makes sense?

    Not true.

While it's shown on TV, the fight has garnered no attention.

"Best" doesn't always mean "Champion." Take a look at Charley Burley and legions of other premiere fighters in the divisions throughout history. Was World Welterweight Champion Red Cochrane better than Robinson?

In a few hours, nothing will hold him back from being champion -unless Povetkin beats him or the fight ends in a draw.

This fight is between the #1 ranked Heavyweight and the #2 ranked Heavyweight in the world, if you are on board with the Transnational Boxing Rankings. The winner takes the throne.

Among the boxing fans of course.

Since Mike Tyson the pro boxing has not been shown on any media here, just barely.

Man I miss those times. Started to watch boxing when Iron Mike was on fire. I was a little kid.
Doubt there ever will be another Iron Mike but one can hope...
