Good fighter who fought most of the top guys and always acquitted himself well but I've always thought he was overrated.
He fought at MW (165) in the amateurs against the likes of Usyk, Danny Jacobs, Boo Boo, Degale, Carlos Gongora, Shawn Estrada, Domonic Wade, Willie Monroe Jr., J'Leon Love among many others. He's a very thick-set strong guy who was big for the weight
Strong, well conditioned fighter who had sloppy technique for a fighter in the elite circuit. He tried hard, did pretty well, but will be remembered as a guy who lost to all the best. Spence said it best when he said "Shawn fights like he's drowning and trying to swim"
Good fighter. A very good fighter and I would say consequential in that he was the barometer of his generation in letting us know how good others were.

he was like the welterweight Joseph Parker Good durable top 10 fighter, but will be easily forgotten and always lost to the best.
If he had stuck around ten more years he would be the new Mosley, not ducking anyone and fighting the best. Taking on all comers win or lose. Matter of fact most of the sons of legends never come through with as good of a career as their fathers (Mosley, Chavez,Camacho, Pacquiao, Rahman, etc etc) I guess we were blessed in an era with a lot of temporary greats, no doubt.
