Have you even read about what the substance does before you made this statement?

Because he knew that his time was at an end and a brutal beatdown was just around the corner.

Are you really that stupid? The substance allows more blood flow and oxygenates the blood more so a person has more stamina! If you are in training and use it , you can push your body to higher levels, giving you better stamina , which is very important in a fight! To say it does absolutely nothing is

My apologies! Sometimes these guys make me say things from a bad place! No excuses, I'm a grown man and can't blame anyone for my actions! I just let my anger get the best of me sometimes!

A popular soviet drug is made illegal in 2016 and suddenly Povetkin is a doper. Remember the cafeine fiasco? Imagine someone was told they are drug user because they indulge in coffee.

This is a purely political issue that saved Wilder's career. I had good money on Sasha winning by KO

Why was it made illegal though? Because it was thought to have given an edge to the athletes using it. And rightfully so. But how come Povetkin tested positive at the beginning of the month then tested positive a week before the fight? Imo they knowingly took it and thought they cycled it off in record time, and failed at it.

I think it was you who asked me what non soviet made versions of this drug there are. The active ingredient is patented in Latvia as "мелдонат" and is produced by 3 companies all based in former Soviet countries or nearby. A slight variation in the chemical formula, under a different name of l-cartenine, is just as effective, wada legal and it is virtually the same acting drug. Funny thing is, one is produced in Russia and is easily available, while the other is produced in Germany and US. Guess which one was banned?

NOw you may say :"if there are alternatives, why ban it now?" That is because due to sanctions against russia the import of pharmaceutical products is practically non existent.

Tldr : purely political decision. Wilder is taking the same drug Povetkin is, only his version is legal.

    :deal

People forget how politics affects world events. There are thousands of drugs consistently being produced by many different pharmaceutical companies that athletes benefit from that have YET to be banned or placed on the WADA watch list. This is going to be an ongoing issue, Meldonium was placed on the watch list, right during the time when the Russian Spetsnaz quietly took over Ukraine, and annexed the Crimea :yep How effective can a drug that was legal to use for over 50 years be?
