Vitali Klitschko is the most disgraceful boxer in history because of this. He was the champ, and he just gave it away because his arm was hurting. Chris Byrd was embarrassing him in the ring, but the German judges would have given Vitali the hometown decision (just read the ridiculous partial scorecards).

Compare to Muhammad Ali, who had a broken jaw but told his cornerman he wanted to go the distance against Kenny Norton.

Or Gene Tunney, who had his nose broken in 2 places by Harry Greb, both eyes deeply gashed and bleeding profusely, and lips smashed. He lost 2 quarts of blood in the fray. Tunney begged his cornerman to continue, and then spent the entire next week in bed recuperating from the terrific beating.

Or Rocky Marciano, who had his nose literally split in two by Ezzard Charles. The ref told him he he would stop the fight in the next round, and Marciano went for the KO, and got it.

Heart means a lot in boxing. This is why Vitali Klitschko can simply never compare to the real ATGs.
