This probably is the wrong section to post in. However, I'm 6'3 and weigh about 206 lbs at the moment. I'm looking to add muscle through a personal training course I'm doing at the moment, and was wondering if I could get advice on diet. Through weight training 4 days a week + 1 day of cardio (weighted cardio, like kettlebell swings, hill sprints and circuit training) I want to get to around 216. I have no specific time frame, tho if I could achieve it in 3-6 months I would be happy. Here's what I eat most days: Morning - bowl of porridge (oat meal) plus 4 egg whites, 1 yolk and a banana. 30 mins later a 30g whey isolate shake Then I train earlyish in the mornings before work. After training it's another protein shake plus another banana. Lunch/Snack - Plain chicken breast, water, almonds, fruit (apple, blueberrys or strawberrys) Dinner - steak/chicken/salmon/whitefish with broccoli/green beans/peas and maybe some pineapple Evening snack - Can of tuna with half pint of skimmed milk This could be the last thing I eat before bed, though I might eat some more chicken if i'm peckish or cottage cheese (which I usually am) Any tips or advice? Help is appreciated.
Alot of healthy food. Don't need to overthink it really, just supplement with protein and creatin and you are good to go.
The diet is fine, try to get atleast 5 meals in there and atleast 2 protein shakes a day. If your trying to add mass i'd say looking at your weight you should take in atleast 4000 calories and 210g of protein daily, hopes this helps. (I have cottage cheese before bed too)
how many calories are you getting. If you want to gain weight, then you need to take in more calories than you burn.
To be honest I don't really know how to 'count' calories. I just look at getting about 200g+ protein a day.
Exactly. Without a calorie table for an entire week we're just speculating. He could be eating just his maintenance and then he will barely put on any muscle, if any. There's the old rule of thumb you should 'overeat' by 500 calories per day = 3,500 per week in order to gain 1 lbs of mass. Cut that in half and one can maybe gain a good 2 lbs per month without adding too much fat.
good post... got to ask why the **** does anyone in this day and age use protein shakes..just an expensive way to drink milk...
looks good reading it over. dont be afraid of calories an healthy fats an protein. lots of carbs. I dont know what you weigh so its hard to say.
