You think it was better than Vasquez-Marquez III? Personally I don't think it's nearly as good a fight.

You're right, I wouldn't say "better". But I would pick Margo-Cotto over Vasquez-Marquez III because the Margo-Cotto fight got people so fired up and everybody expected that fight like very few others in the recent past. Don't get me wrong, Vasquez-Marquez III was a war and a great fight, but we had already seen those two in action before, twice, so we pretty much knew what to expect from them.

Which one will actually win in Ring Magazine? Hopkins over Pavlik.

You're right that Margarito-Cotto was a bigger event and got more boxing fans watching, but it wasn't as good a fight. I was not expecting Vasquez-Marquez III to go the distance given the endings of their first two, and I wasn't expecting Vasquez to go down.

Both men get dropped, blood, non-stop action, fought at a high skill level, and an amazing finish. What more could you want in a fight? Margarito's comeback after losing the first half of that fight so clearly was amazing and the finish, the seemingly unbreakable Cotto folding under Margo's assault was dramatic, but for me personally it doesn't compare as a fight on the entire scale to Vasquez-Marquez III. It was the best fight I've seen live, one of the best I've ever seen.

Margarito beating Cotto tops the list for me. So much drama and action.

Fair enough. What I meant by saying "we pretty much knew what to expect from Vasquez and Marquez" was that most felt it would be another war between two pretty evenly matched fighters, and that's what it turned out to be. When in the Margo-Cotto fight, nobody really knew what to expect.

Swap those around and thats my pick.

Hopkins on Pav is very much up there but I think these are better wins all things considered.

Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins schooling of Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik.

Come on. 4/1 underdog. People were talking about whether Hopkins can survive 12 rounds? He dominated from start to finish. 12-0.

Yea, I think they may give it to popkins. It wasn't a great scrap like Margo V Cotto though...

Fight of the year in my opinion is subjective, because of the hype. in 2006, nobody thought monshipour-somsak was foty(most had not seen it). But in retrospective, the fight of the year should be the fight of the year because of what happens in the ring, not the hype surrounding it(although the hype helps to get fans watching).

    FOTY
    1.vazquez-marquez III
    2.Cotto-Margarito
    3.Katsidis-campbell
    4.holt-torres II

Performance though, has to go to bernard vs pavlik. Simply beautiful.
