I'm going to buy one of those boxing stands as the walls of my garage are too hard to drill through so I can't put up a bracket.

Some of these stands have an attachment for a speedball but obviously they cost a bit more. I'm just wondering whether it's worth paying the extra.

What exactly does a speedball add to your workout?

alot of people dismiss the speedbag,unfortunately.. my last 2 trainers did too.

in my opinion its a great tool, however too much emphasis shouldnt be placed on it,

its great for teaching beginners hand -eye co ordination, rhythm and to get them used to keeping there hands up, some shoulder conditioning also

not just for good for beginners though,
its a fun lil workout too

I saw footage of Cus D'Amato saying that this is a myth and he then closed his eyes and hit the speedball for a couple of minutes

I remember wondering why I'd use the speedball. Until a local coach for the pros told me to use it "at full speed at all times".

Try to hit it as many times as you can while keeping control of it. Not only will it make you look good to others, but it will greatly help coordination and shoulder strength. The first few times will be hard but you will be rewarded.

I never use one, the one at the last gym I was at never got used except by kids and those wanting a skive instead of going on a heavy bag. I don't even know if there is one at the gym I'm at now.

I think the primary purpose is to develop shoulder endurance.

Can't think of a single one that's not replaceable with something better.

    Shoulder Endurance.

Its also not bad for your core stability either.
