it's a 'bye-bye' fight. at least I hope it is. One last money-grab from the fans and goodnight. They'll probably fight to a draw IMO.

for entertainment purpose. as a roy jones jr. fan, i would like to see him fight a good fighter before he hangs it up (i really hope he doeas after this). and i still blindly hope that he could somehow show a shade of what he used to be on that night and get a good win. and then rap about it in his interview.

Amen, nice to see there are some boxing fans who get this. I've wanted to see this rematch for over a decade and a half and now I get to see it. As far as I'm concerned, that's just great - it's a fight I'd much rather see than a pointless match against some nobody like Danny Green.

You just said Hopkins still has "some" in the tank to win this yet say he's ducking Dawson?

Hopkins passed the "Dawson", "Pavlik"..etc test LONG ago, WAY long ago. Right now it's just money and having fun, if people will watch then what's the problem?

Dawson is having difficulty finding opponents is NOT Hopkins' fault. Hopkins is beyond proving his self to these guys long ago, if people still can't see it then they can stay blind for as long as they want, his record is available to check out for those who need a reality check. Wasn't he an underdog in 4 of his last 5 fights?

It's funny only now Hopkins wants Jones after the worse loss of his career and it is evident he is completely shot. When there was demand for it and there was potential for a lot more money to be made, Hopkins made it impossible for it to be made with his 50-50 or nothing demands.

The fact he wasn't willing to try and revenge that clear loss in his career when he easily could have should be a black mark on his record, even if he wins this irrelevant rematch.

Hopkins/Jones were set to fight even before their last fights and before Jones lost, they already spoke and dealt with it at that point, you need a reality check.

Hopkins is not Calzaghe, he fears no one. If he's fighting Jones coming off a loss, Hopkins isn't exactly prime material either, he's 44 years old and had a loss to Jones long ago with MANY people interested in a rematch even to this day. The only thing that makes people beyond negative is Jones' loss and that wasn't expected when BOTH of them already reached a deal before Jones lost. Unlike Calzaghe who thought he's making history in his last two fights before his "legacy making" retirement. Hopkins has done all he can and FAR MORE in his younger days and it's available to witness, an entertaining money making fight shouldn't be criticized for someone who has done it all anyway.

Hopkins has wanted Jones since a long time. After his worse loss? You think Hopkins wanted Jones to lose? :patsch

No **** it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. But there is something personal between the two which is why they still want to fight.

Jones want the fight because it's the probably the last decent pay day he will be able to get now.

Hopkins wants it because Jones is shot and if he doesn't take it now he won't ever get the chance to make any money off that fight. Jones is virtually a knockout waiting to happen now to the top fighters.

The Jones camp came out with those excuses about Danny Green loading his gloves basically to save this fight with Hopkins, casting doubt over the legitimacy of Green's win to make it seem there might still be some credibility left in Jones-Hopkins II.

The fact is Jones-Hopkins II has little credibility now, it's a circus fight, a la Fenech/Azumah Nelson III.

When Hopkins had every opportunity to make this fight when it was still relevant, to the fans and to his legacy, he couldn't get it made. Now that he had a legitimate reason to kill it, he still takes it even with people ridiculing him for it. If it was simply personal Hopkins would've rematched him long ago.

Nah. Styles are very important in this matchup, and Jones still has much faster hands then Hopkins. It's not a foregone conclusion unless Bernard is extremely aggressive.

Truthfully it's happening because, as you can see, there are still enough guppies left in the ocean to sell this POS.

The sad thing is I'm certain I'll be one of them. If Roy Jones Jr is fighting, I'm pretty much destined to be there like a big ass sap.

The point of this fight is so that Hopkins can finally turn old and die happy. Everybody knows he made a pact with the devil to give him the ability to remain young forever or until he beats Roy Jones. Hopkins is tiring of the immortal life and has decided to end the curse by beating Roy. immediately after the fight, Hopkins will grow a gray beard and shrivel up during the interview. Then he'll fall over and break his hip, then catch pneumonia in the hospital and die.
