this fight is a joke at this point. Hopkins is only truely interested in fighting Jones NOW that he is totally shot. And Jones is looking to be relevent again. Hopkins is still seen as a p4p top fighter and the number 1 LT heavyweight in the world, he should be fighting Dawson. And the only fighting that Jones should be doing is on PS3's round 4.
Cashing thier names in before the names are too spent.... 17 years after the first fight.... Its a bit of an old curiosity shop isnt it...
For Hopkins its a number of reasons: 1: Money 2: He can duck Dawson 3: He can avenge his loss, although it is know completely meaningless to beat this version of Roy.
Jones isnt much better: http://www.tribune.ie/archive/artic...nes-jnr-boxing-icon-i-didnt-expect-a-white-a/
Hopkins was close to stopping Tarver and Pavlik. Tarver, his trainer told him not to get wreckless and he slowed up on him, Pavlik, he tried to stop him and didnt get it. Both of those guys are more durable than 40 year old Roy is now though and that could be enough to get Roy stopped. Jones still has the handspeed but he doesnt have the reaction time and movement which he relied on not to get hit which is why he is getting KTFO all the time now, he has no basic defense skills cause he never had to. Hopkins will be able to bully him on the inside and place him where he wants him to land his shots. I think at the start, Roy may look ok when he can keep the distance he wants and throw some fast shots on the outside and move, but I think as the night wears on Hops will find a way to close the distance and will be landing on him more and more. He knows Roy is weak on the ropes, he found that out back in 93 or 94 whatever it was. It showed up again in Tarver 1 and the Green fight.
It's a natural match up. Hopkins wants revenge. RJJ wants redemption. BUT......................RJJ will be knocked spark out and he will almost certainly NOT retire:huh
