What is the possibility that Anderson Silva is the single best fighter in the world?

Yeah and then the jealous punkass haters of Silva/Mayweather start crying their eyes out and craping their pants because their favorites aren't on the same level!!.

I was simply posing the question.

It isn't totally out of the realm of possibility, though I don't think he could beat Fedor or even Couture. Rickson won the open weight GP back when didn't he? It much less unlikely for an MMA fighter to be smaller and the best fighter in the world than a boxer to be.

But even in boxing, Marciano was quite small for a HW champ. BJ Penn didn't have a great run at heavyweight, but he showed that he had something at that weight, and Anderson is probably more dangerous than Penn.

Anderson hurt a guy, and finished a guy, that Rampage wasn't able to finish in 5 rounds. It isn't something that should be written off completely, simply because he is smaller.

NONE.....there is a reason that there are weight classes. I have a buddy of mine that has been doing MMA since before it was popular He keep wanting me to come spar with him because of my boxing background. After months and months of him bugging me i agreed.

Keep in mind Im 35 years old I have trained for anything serious since college, this buddy is 28 and he has been training since MMA since he was 18. So we start and im using my boxing skills throwing my shots at about 50%. After a few minutes Im done Im tried and sounding like a train. He takes me down and trys to put me in an arm bar thingy. I simple picked him up off the ground over my shoulders and could have slammed him out. Difference Im 6 foot 2 and 250 and he was 5 foot 10 and about 180. Even though he was more skilled at mma, he couldnt over come my size advantage.

He should've been able to put you in the armbar regardless. That's a good thing about armbars, if u get it it doesn't matter how big the difference is. Unless its drastic like 250 vs 130 or something.

You should have dropped him on his head. That's the only way to learn how to "know when to held 'em and know when to fold 'em."

He is however a very very large middleweight, he's said in interviews that his normal weight is above 210, and it doesn't ever look like he gets big to the point of being out of shape in between fights. Look how large he looks against Franklin, and Lutter who couldn't even make the weight. He definatly doesn't seem to have a problem with size while sparring boxing with nog in some videos.

He also doesn't loose that much strategically by facing bigger guys, he still is at or about the height of most 205ers and plenty of HW's and he is very long limbed, so theres not a huge reach disadvantage. While he would be taken down easier, he gets taken down anyway and fights very well off of his back, which again due to his long limbs wouldn't be terribly troubling from a physical standpoint in higher weight classes.

He wouldn't be the dominant fighter he is now, but he could be a legitimate title threat at 205, and he would give all but the best HW's fits.

I think the guy is awesome but he has more than one freak loss.

Calling him the best p4p is a disservice to the likes of Penn and Fedor. Those guys don't have a single loss to be really ashamed about.

Silvas been caught by a freak move that you just can't execute often. I've seen an average fighter who is probably a journeyman put it on him and close the show.

It's hard to imagine that he is the best when Fedor still breathes.

There's a fine line between p4p best right now no doubt BECAUSE of his recent activity. If he beats either Barnette or Couture IMO he'll be back in the #1. If he beats both of them, I dunno how anyone EVEN Dana can deny that he is p4p best. But thats just wishful thinking.

I like Silva, he's an incredible fighter. I just won't support stupid nuthugger ideas like" he could be the best at any weight " etc.

Fedor would probably kill him, not to mention Nog, Couture etc.:patsch

"Probably" doesn't make it a fact though, right now Fedor is not stepping up and proving that he is the best in the world and as everyone knows anything can happen in MMA.
