There's a lot of truth in that. You then selectively use whichever one of the above justifications best justifies each placing.

It's 100% don't bother with them. Almost anyone you ever talk to about anything, especially boxing, is going to be a moron. Pound for pound rankings are subjective nonsense and they mean absolutely nothing.

I'd say 50% resume and 50% ability would be fair. Its open to interpretation, and its basically a tool for discussion/sites like Eastsideboxing.com

Just think someone like Paul williams might have a ridiculous number on his list by the time he retires - Margarito (respected at the time), Verno Phillips, Winky Wright, and he might have Pavlik, Kessler, Hopkins, and chad Dawson. Its unrealistic now, but at the same time it's actually realistic in his unique case.

for me its 100% ablity. And then resume is what I look at to assess a fighter's ability.

basically, a great resume is an indicator of a fighter with great ability.

Just because it's bull**** doesn't mean people don't/wouldn't/shouldn't talk about it, 99% of what I say is bull****.

100% resume. I'd say about 80% recent resume not some wins dated years back. Think like this: if an A- boxer beats many A++ boxers, doesn't he deserves a spot over an A++ fighter with a half as decent recent record? Israel Vazquez is not the Mayweather of the SMW division yet he's a top5 P4P-er. It's all about resume. Of course he recently he did nothing, so he's going to fall out. It always worked like that.

I would sayh 50-50. Look Pacquaio is clearly the p4p right now, hes been spanking top flight competiton since 2003 and is still going.Hes got better has a boxer so hes for sure p4p. I think if Hatton wins I dont put him p4p but I dont put Marquez p4p!!! Everybody is gonna want to put Marquez p4p is Pacquaio loses to Hatton but He just lost to Pacquaio a year ago and Hatton has never lost at 140/

I tell you what. If Hatton does win and Mayweather beats Marquez then Mayweather is p4p PERIOD!!! Alot of ppl can talk about weight and all that, but if Mayweather can come out of almost a 2 year retirement and beat the p4p #2 then your the ****.
