What is the real deal with Riddick Bowe, anyway?

I don't know how you can say this. He beat a prime-ish ATG in Holyfield, and, whereas his resume's get pretty thin after that , it isn't much more thin than Vitaly's. Bowe has fewer actual losses- again, I admit he has had at least four crappy figths that should have been losses, but in the end, his record is just plain better,

I like Vitaly a great deal too. I hope Vitaly gets his fight with Haye, or whomever to shut up the critics. I am not saying Bowe WOULD have beaten Vitaly, but to say that he COULD not have beaten him is absurd. Two big, strong, top twenty heavies going at it, who can really say?

Michael Morrer outboxed him so did lewis and ruiz when holyfield was supposedly prime.. holy was a brawler who led with his head..

IF he could truly hang on the outside as you put it why does he resort to infighting? Hell golata kicked the crap out of him on the inside and outside Bowe was and is overrated he ran from the only other tall fighter Lewis because he couldnt fight well form the outside.... I wuold like some examples on those he dominated from the outside im having trouble remembering any of them..... Also Pwill fights the way he does because of his height he holds a lot when margs got in close and kept him at a mid range.. does he fight as tall as he can no but he does fight at a range.

And youve never heard that saying before watch more fight and you will:deal

Holyfield was past his prime for Ruiz, well past his prime for Lewis, and had a heart attack for the Moorer fight- one fo the reasons he was already past it for the other two.

Lewis was before ruiz so shouldnt that be the other way around? so you think Holy was shott before he fought the rematches with Bowe.. and before he beat tyson twice? I think his " Heart problem was due to his steroid use.... I think Bowe was a good heavy but not great let me make that clear i dont think he ever lived up to potential and was lazy inside and outside the ring.

Bowe had all the tools to be a top 10 ATG. However, he chose to eat his way into oblivion. I remember when Bowe built a kitchen in his bedroom! The guy was to lazy to walk to the kitchen. Also he was clearly punch drunk in 1997, He was in a Puffy/Mace video and It sounded like he had marbles in his mouth.

I wouldn't say shot- its a false dicotomy. You don't go from prime to shot. But he started to deteriorate after the first Bowe fight. Everyone noted in when he rematched Stewart. He seemed to re-summon his greatness for the second Bowe fight, but that was it. He was in a state of decline after that.

The Tyson fights were good wins, but Tyson hadn't been at hi best since he was 23. Holyfield was good enough that it was a long, slow decline.

Yeah true enough. i still wonder how much of his " prime" was due to steroids?

What Bowe accomplished in his career he has Eddie Futch to thank.
