I started to become a boxing fan probably in the late 60's (born in 1958 and the Ali comeback and the first Frazer-Ali fight just put me over the top. Also, something about the boxing pictures really got to me. Remember reading this book in the school library The Heavyweight Champions, by John Durant, that had some really awesome pictures in it and that always stayed with me

There is something beautiful about this sport. I just dont have the words for it.
The moment i started following boxing i came across the saying "It´s the loneliest place on earth."
As i started to watch more and more fights i kept wondering: "Why do they call it the lonliest place on the earth ?".
To me it looked like heaven.
The first time i stepped in a ring i was at ease. My mind was empty and i knew i belonged there.
When someone talks about love then i think about boxing.
I guess i am like on of those twitards but my Edward is boxing :D.

I watched some fights in the 80s, SRL, Hearns... but I was a kid.

I was in High School when Tyson was upset by Douglas. It was world news, like a world leader being killed or a cure for cancer being found. Tyson was so well known that even your great grandma knew who he was. Boxing was in the news often because Tyson was so sensational and controversial.

In the military and we would get together to throw in on PPV. Post prison Tyson, ODLH and Roy Jones were all huge at that time. We were on the Gulf Coast, and with Roy being from Pensacola FL, he had a big fan base in the area and boxing news frequent and popular.

I remember watching the Golota vs. Bowe fight with two friends. The race riot was insane. It was a media moment won't ever forget...like the space shuttle exploding or 9/11.

The footage I've seen since never shows the part I remember most, Lampley and Merchant hiding behind George Foreman, while George (in a Tuxedo) was 1 punch KO'ing guys running up to attack the white announcers. It was ****ing crazy ****.

At that time the UFC was just starting and there was some interest in that. Gracie vs. Shamrock was big news.

Around that same time I talked to someone at boxing gym and considered getting into it to get in shape. Biloxi Boxing Club.

I started watching on the regular in the late 90's, early 00's. I started training in boxing around that time.

I watched every fight I could until about a year or two ago when the politics in boxing and the endless parade of shitty fights soured me on watching as much.

I still keep up with the fights and go to the gym, but don't always order PPV or make sure I'm home to catch every single B level fight or above, like I used to.

the main reason i got into boxing was watching video's of ali and ray leonard, then watching fights as they happenned like hearns v hagler, leonard v hagler, holmes v spinks, and then the whole tyson era exploding, was a great time for boxing imo.

its also been a huge privelidge to receive hundreds of PM's here on esb stating that the Team Elite Corporation are the reason that so many people have got into boxing today, it seems that so many people these days are truely grateful for the delicious educational service that we provide on a daily basis.

Zab Judah vs Floyd Mayweather. The first 6 rounds of that fight was like poetry in motion. High speed back and forth exchanges. The speed, the power, the skill. I never saw anything like it and haven't since. It was the sweet science at its finest. Not a bull **** brawl. The adjustments Floyd made in the fight were masterful. And zab should just how great of a fighter he actually was. And why he never reached his potential. You would think being bestfriends with Floyd, seeing his work ethic dedication and success. You would pick that up. Or atleast ask for advice. He ask to learn the shoulder roll. Lmao And ironically that's been his best weapon since he started using it.

my dad was a boxer and a big fan of the sport so we used to watch all the fights from early-mid 90's on a casual basis (big fights only- Tyson, ODLH, RJJ, Holyfield etc....), then in the mid 90's I saw a tapia fight and was hooked....he became my favorite fighter and i started paying a lot more attention to the sport and became a hardcore within a year reading every book i could, ordering ring, going online at school and reading up on it (didn't have net at home til 2000's) and i started going to the gym.
