for the most consecutive knockout wins for a boxer from turning pro before going the distance or tasting defeat?

ive just been reading the article about edwin valero on the news & views page & 26 consecutive KO wins is pretty ****ing impressive, got me wondering tho...

"Finally he hit his peak. On December 1 he stopped 6 opponents in one night, five in the first round and one in the second."

So I suppose he was the entire undercard while also headlining a main event? I wonder what the buzz (if any) was when he went up against Ali...

decent little read that, thanks :good

as i was reading the part about him fighting more than once in one night against local tough nuts, i spared a thought for butterbean! haha

his blown up record sort of reminds me of dimitri salita and him stepping up in class must have been similar if not as dramatic...

Micheal Moorer opened his career with 26 consecutive ko's too, and that streak included a move from 175 to heavyweight (4 hw fights i think).

I think Wilfredo Gomez, after being held to a draw in his pro debut, scored 32 consecutive ko's, and that streak included his ENTIRE super-bantamweight title reign (a dozen or so defenses?).
That's the stuff of legends right there, and people might wanna take it into consideration the next time they wanna compare Juan Manuel Lopez to him.

I think Aaron Pryor had a streak of about 25, which included fights with Cervantes and the 2 with Arguello. I do know at least that after the arguello fights he was 34-0 with 32 ko's.

Edit: i just looked it up, Pryor opened at 8-0, 6 KOs and then scored 26 consecutively.

H/W Don Steele, who was stopped by Ray Mercer and Brian Nielsen amongst others, had 44 consecutive ko's i believe. Needless to say, he fought his fair share of patsies. His best win was probably a stoppage of one time fringe contender Mike Dixon, who was well past it at the time....
