Out of all of the moments in boxing history, what single moment stands out as the single bravest thing you've seen a fighter do in the ring?

I am having difficulty singling it down to just one pick, but I'll pick one soon enough.

What he does in the last 1:10 of round eight after getting up from that second knockdown is insane. While getting battered all over the ring, he's actually returning fire! Max was able to put Louis down for the count, and stopped Stribling on the strength of a single right hand in his last win prior to Walker, but he couldn't get game little Mickey out of there.

This is why Walker was the Toy Bulldog (especially starting at 1:50):

Foreman-Frazier II is another example I like. Joe could have retired in a blaze of glory after Manila. He might have even been able to get back to Ali without having to tangle with George again. (And in reviewing Manila with Cosell, Muhammad sounded receptive to the idea of a fourth bout with Smoke, emphatically stating that he believed Joe was still a great fighter who wasn't ready to be put out to pasture just yet.) For all Frazier knew, Foreman might kill him in a rematch. Foreman-Frazier II was not for the world title (although Ali did say Joe had himself another title bid if he could somehow prevail).

Arthritis, high blood pressure and a cataract in his left eye were horrible handicaps to carry into the ring against somebody who might have taken his life in Jamaica. Didn't matter. And when Smoke did finally go down, he immediately bounced up twice. Eddie Futch has been honored for calling a halt to Manila, but he also rescued Frazier from the indignity of a virtually guaranteed automatic three knockdown rule stoppage in the fifth round. Joe was too brave for his own good.

I don't think I've seen a fight comparable to Nelson-Wolgast. 40 rounds of battle and they actually keep up a high pace throughout the fight. Nelson, the maniac that he was, still protesting at the end (and against Moran where he was knocked down 3 times).

It is not on film but Armstrong despite his overwhelming dominance in most of his fights also displayed some unbelievable heroics such as when he swallowed a ton of blood in a win over Lou Ambers or when he was still blindly swinging while in this condition at the hands of Fritzie Zivic:

Leaving ring deaths and permanent aside for obvious reasons, a recent example of boxing bravery at its best was Danny Williams ten years ago-

    - brave boxers like Vitali Klitschko and Carl Thompson have quit with far less severe shoulder injuries.

How does taking everything an opponent has to throw at you without going down equate to being "bounced around the ring"? Being bounced around the ring was what happened to him vs Foreman.

How about Jack Johnson getting into the ring with Jim Jeffries with the band playing All Coons Look Alike To Me, thousands of white men screaming obscenities and hate at him, while he bowed to them and grinned back.

Two days previously some one took a shot at him and he had hand written death threats prior to the fight telling him,if he entered the ring he would be killed?

Billy Miske suffering from Bright's Disease, and knowing he would soon die, begged the promotor for one more last fight, so his family would have enough money for Christmas
when Miske died. What bravery from Miske, who should have his story told in Hollywood. One of a kind...

Rocky Marciano...surging forward into Ezzard Charles with that split walnut nose of his...refusing to lose and destroying his excellent opponent in the 8th round...doing what a champion ideally is supposed to do...never quit.

Joe Gans fought whlie having consumption/tuberculosis
Yuri Foremen fighting Miguel Cotto on one good leg going in to the fight (notice the brace), and Just one leg for 1 1/2 rounds.
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wv-3bj5J_k[/ame]
In the end Cotto won the fight, but Foreman got up pretty much on his own after Mercante Jr. stoped the fight.
