Floyd was jabbing a lot and was getting credit for those jabs connecting, but those jabs weren't really landing flush or snapping Canelo's head back or really bothering Canelo all that much. It was a basically a range finding jab to keep Canelo at range and set up other punches. Floyd did a good job of neutralizing Canelo's attack, but Canelo himself wasn't really attempting to get inside so the fight was fought from range one punch at a time. It was really alot of posturing and slipping punches. Ross getting suspended or whatever it was called was unprecedented. That just goes to show how much pull Floyd and TMT had in that fight. They wanted her gone because she didn't have Floyd winning, and they made that happen. You talk about a fight being rigged against a fighter, from the catchweight to the punch stats to the scorecards, the entire event was heavily stacked against Canelo.
Regardless of how you scored it, do you agree that it was more because Canelo wasn't doing enough rather than Floyd doing all that much? I mean how many of those rounds was Floyd really landing any big punches on Canelo?
I can respect the ideals of it when you put it like that. Just sucks to see in a sport where one L can set you back years. Trust me, I'm no fan of that variable being in the equation in the first place.
Canelo landed almost nothing on Lara. That was by far the worst scorecard. Floyd beat Canelo but it was hardly a beat down. He outboxed a guy who was too slow for him but didn't hurt Canelo once
If The fight goes to the score cards Golovkin loses. I wouldnt be surprise if a blatant robbery takes place, you heard it from me and others.
I had 1 round for Canelo and gave him an absolute pity round that likely was a Mayweather round. My original scorecard was 11-1 Floyd. Then 10-2 giving Canelo the absolute benefit of the doubt. Those saying that fight was close are idiots. Canelo was literally punching air all night with the occasional shot landing on Mayweather gloves. You don't win rounds with that.
And what was Mayweather doing offensively to win all those rounds you had him winning? Was he landing big punches round after round on Canelo?
Was competitive but not close. No case for a robbery but Matt did earn the world's respect and make Canelo look weaker than people thought he would.
You don't have to land 'big punches' when your opponent isn't landing anything. Let me be clear I am not saying Mayweather 'schooled' him or put on a 'masterclass' or even 'beat Canelo up' it was none of those things. Scoring the fight it was impossible to give Canelo more than 2 rounds max. It was hard to give him more than 1 round to be honest. The fight was pretty uneventful but Mayweather was winning the rounds clearly because Canelo was hitting nothing or hitting gloves. Mayweather was actually landing punches no matter how insignificant they were so you have to score the rounds for him. A landed punch even if just a pitter pat slap or a pot shot is more than hitting nothing or hitting the gloves. In no way did Mayweather 'school' him or beat him up but by the scoring punches he was able to land it was a virtual wipeout on the scorecards.
Lara didn't land much either and his punches were pure pitty pat. All the judges saw was one fighter chasing the other running. Easy call. Everybody is always going to whine about scorecards, it's a weekly ritual around here, but the bottom line is all those cards went to the rightful winner.
All 4 of those scorecards I posted are absolutely disgraceful and neither do any of them represent what actually happened in those fights. Complaining about scorecards is something that happens on this forum, but when all the scorecards belong to one fighter - Canelo, people are going to ask questions and criticise.
