Not all the judges agreed on the scoring, but like I said, in the end the right man won in all those fights you mentioned. And you can disagree with that all you want, but had cards gone the other way there would have been a lot more outcry about robberies.
In the early rounds, it amounted to basically a jabbing contest. Floyd was jabbing almost exclusively, and Canelo was jabbing to try to set up the right hand. Canelo was using a lot of feints early on that were causing Floyd to flinch a lot more than I've ever seen Floyd flinch like that. If you look at the body language in the first couple of rounds, Floyd was put off balance many times, not really by big punches landed by Canelo but more because Floyd was evading and pulling back hard thinking that punches were coming to the point where he was put off balance. That to me is actually an example of Floyd being taken to school in a way by Canelo, when you got a guy in front of you that's causing you to react like that to feints, i.e. pulling back hard when no punches are actually coming. Seeing Floyd react to Canelo's feints just to go show that Canelo is not your normal Floyd opponent, that this guy is really getting to Floyd. I suggest you watch it back, I just had a look at some of the early rounds, and Canelo was definitely landing punches. He was landing hard jabs right through Floyd’s guard, then he was mixing it up with jabs to the body, Canelo was landing clean on Floyd's exposed shoulder when he was doing the shoulder roll (that's a hit), Canelo landed a lunging left hook in I think the 2nd round that landed flush while Floyd was pulling away. Floyd made it look like it missed in real-time, but it definetly landed. Canelo was feinting the jab, getting Floyd to react and pull back hard, stuff like that. This was a very, very difficult fight for Floyd. Now to Floyd’s credit he managed to surprise Canelo with a number of jabs on his own, to regain the upper hand. I also observed that Canelo parried one of Floyd’s jabs with his gloves, like pushing Floyd’s jab away from his face and stuff with his glove. One thing is clear, Canelo was doing stuff to Floyd in those early rounds that no one does to Floyd. It was very even early on. Floyd was definitely not used to the movement and style Canelo was bringing. Just the fact that Canelo was making Floyd flinch like that over and over with feints indicated that Floyd was very nervous of Canelo’s style and hand speed. Floyd made some adjustments by the middle rounds and had a nice Round 7. As I said, you can certainly argue that Floyd edged many of the rounds with a few more solid jabs landed, or an occasional right hand, or whatever the case may be, but each and every round Floyd was straining and was quite uncomfortable in there just based on his body language with what Canelo was doing. Canelo was hanging in there punch for punch with Floyd in a way that we've really never seen before. Floyd’s jab did make it difficult to score rounds for Canelo, every time Canelo would land a jab, Floyd would try to come back with two quick jabs or something, then get out of range. One thing I’m seeing is that Floyd was pulling back a lot and while it made it look like he was making Canelo miss, a lot of those punches actually connected, it was just that he was pulling back so hard that it took most of the sting off the punches. The handspeed of Canelo was certainly causing Floyd to resort to tactics we’ve never really seen him use before, like pulling back way more than usual from feints. I mean in other fights we simply see Floyd walking you down flat footed, blocking and throwing the straight right hand. But vs Canelo, Floyd was all over the place. Flinching on Canelo feints, getting hit with lightning-fast jabs from Canelo, occasional hooks from Canelo where Floyd would pull back and take the sting off it, but he was still getting hit. Canelo was definitely landing a lot on Floyd and many of those rounds were very even. Canelo didn’t do enough to really convincingly win rounds, but neither was Floyd. There was a lot of tit-for-tat going on. A very back and forth fight, a competitive fight. Like you said, not a “schooling” in any way shape or form by Floyd. I agree with your assessment that it was pretty uneventful, that's my point. Neither guy could really land anything big on the other. Floyd had his moments, but so did Canelo. Floyd had more moments, but they were few and far between. This was a very interesting fight if you really look at it closely and break down what was really happening. I would have loved to see a trilogy between Floyd and Canelo because their styles mirror each other so much. There wasn't as much action as a lot of people wanted, but it was really a sweet science tit-for-tat jabbing contest type of a fight.
Oscar will own the judges, no doubt about that, I suspect he will hire the criminal ref Lawrence Cole and own the boxing commission, Vegas, full of crooks, Texas owned by Cole's father.........
Why don't they bring C.J. Ross back for Canelo vs Triple G fight. Would you support that or would her coming back concern you?
The 118-110 Byrd card a couple days ago was the worst, then the 114-114 CJ Ross card in the Mayweather fight.
Yup, that's the worst one I think. Thing is you could perhaps forgive this if it was an isolated incident, but it seems that every Canelo fight has a really awful scorecard completely slanted in his favour. It's making me dislike the fighter and it really shouldn't. Sigh.
I was training at 108th and broadway when Larry mosley was training for canelo. Larry outboxed him. Canelo gassed in that fight aswell. Laid on the ropes almost 2 whole rounds toward the end of the fight. It was close, like the trout fight. But larry and trout won those fights. Lara whipped him.
That's what I keep saying, at least 90% of Canelo's bodyshots Lara either blocked with his elbows and forearms or he moved away from them.
