I'm not talking about the referee stopping the fight too late like Patterson-Johansson I, I'm talking about referee stoppages that were ultimately too quick. What's the worst stoppage you have ever witnessed?

Premature stoppages which cost a defending heavyweight champion his title stick in my craw. Weaver-Dokes I heads my list. Lewis should have been afforded an opportunity to continue against McCall. Referees in this day and age are squeamish ***gots who shouldn't be let out of the kitchen and sewing room. Tex Cobb had it right. "We're in there to raise hell, and the referee's only job is to count to ten."

Calzaghe/Manfredo has to rank right up there with the worst.

Dokes - Weaver come to mind
And on the other end They let Gaby Canizales vs Richie Sandoval go on to long,Sandoval almost lost his life in that fight.

Mancini-Chacon...Bobby could have ridden out any danger he was in...he did so through much, much worse before.

:good Agreed that is why he was my favorite fighter when i was a kid! His career was filled with wars where he always came back in dramatic fashion. He was like Gatti but way before Gatti(does that make sense:huh) except that Chacon was more skilled.

    "Dokes-Weaver 1" and "Tyson-C.Williams" were bad calls.....

I also think the ref screwed Ayub Kalule a bit against Leonard in 1981....... The ****ing bell sounded after 9 heated rds when Kalule was dropped, and I think the tired and hurt Kalule may have recovered during the break....... Kalule was in-shape.......

This was a particularly strange stoppage to me, as Richard Steele refereed Schoolboy's previous bout, the Boza Edwards rematch. Maybe Steele was spooked by Mancini's involvement in the Kim tragedy.

Yeah, I remember thinking that it had to be echoes of Mancini's Kim ordeal...because Chacon wasn't in any real trouble..it was a most unsatisfactory ending to what may have been a good fight in my ever so humble opinion.

Lewis getting stopped standing up against McCall was ridiculous. He was no doubt clearheaded enough to continue.
