Sanavia is also promoted by Sauerland...I don't say that there aren't robberies in Germany, but definately no more than anywhere else in the world. But I guess it's just a problem of TV exposure. There are more than 60 live televised fight cards each year (out of maybe 100 fight cards overall a year). Just compare the population and size of the US to Germany - you will find out that by percentage, German TV shows the most boxing...
Prime example being Mr. Dzinziruk Where the hell are they hiding the kid? He should be undisputed champ in this shitty wasteland of a division :-(
Yeah...there are many good things with German boxing: plenty of free to air televised shows, very good pay for German/German promoted fighters, plenty of support from the crowd...etc. All in all - this is great for the business of boxing in Germany, not least since their stars are protected from failure both by the ref and by the judges...say what you want. And, yeah, Tom, if Bute travels to fight Larsen, he might just have to press for a stoppage, because, as you yourself suggested, that is the wisest thing to do when you fight a Sauerland promoted fighter.:good
Hey, you know what I think of Sauerland and his corrupt tactics. I could right a damn book on my experience. But I will give him credit for one thing, the man knows how to put on a first class show. You will see nothing in America compared to what they do in Germany for a big fight.
Remember what Vivian Harris and Steve Cunningham did with ease...especially Harris in his first fight with Urkal, a fight that could have been scored either way, Harris won on points!
Tom, there's a reason Wegner pulled Huck out at the last moment; he knew that if it had been allowed to go to the cards, Huck might have been gifted a decision. Being an honest man and valuing the reputation of his young charge, he wanted to guarantee the right decision.:deal
He was winning on our scorecards clearly...but...not necessarily on the jugdes' scorecards, Tom! Ulli knows the score! Had Cunninghamn been robbed, his boy would have been hated!
Man, I know the official scores and Cunningham was leading 107-102, 106-103 on 2 judges scorecards before the final round...
How fortunate; Ulli just didn't want to take the chance, though; he didn't know the scores, did he? But he knew the score!
You are buying too much in the story of "Germany being the most corrupt country in boxing-biz". The question is why - Bute maybe being not all that good? Even JC came over to fight here...
:nono :huh Why, am I making excuses for a possible loss to Larsen by arguing that it's bound to be a robbery? How would that convince anyone, post facto, if it wasn't a robbery? What does this have to do with Bute anyway? Why do you keep bringing him up? Not to fight Ottke, he didn't!:deal
I don't know how much of a threat he is because I've never seen him fight and because I don't know how "back" he is after his comeback... In any case, I do expect Bute to win by wide decision and perhaps even stoppage...but if Larsen is better than I think and it would be close, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Larsen was given the nod...even if he was losing by 3 rounds or so...
