I just finished reading the usually objective and knowledgeable
graham houston's take on the Froch/Groves controversy and he's
saying while the stoppage was a bit early it was 'inevitable' that
Froch was going to get the stoppage so he wasn't too up in arms
about it. I've heard similar agreeing posts on here as well, but as
someone who's watched the entire fight and also at least 5 times
that last bit of the 9th round.........I'm just NOT seeing where groves
was in dire straits. He wasn't floundering around the ring clinching for
dear life for a minute, and just before Carl shifted the momentum w/
a brief combo GG was giving as good as he got. So, I don't understand
why british pundits are so favoring Froch over Groves, also there fellow
countryman, so much that they're willing to overlook realty. Unless, there
is some criminal activity going on involving a name that rhymes with bearnes
Anyway, this whole thing really is a black eye for British boxing and I
now see less big fights happening over there as a result.

Did you hear the reception each fighter got during the entrance? Froch was applauded and cheered, while Groves was booed and harrassed.

Idk, maybe GG's pre fight antics pissed off the Brits?

Im sick of hearing people say 'the early stoppage is not that bad because it was inevitable that froch was gina stop groves anyway'... this is BS there is absolutely no way of knowing that and thanks to the ref we will never know.

An early stoppage is an early stoppage, no ifs or buts. It was the wrong decision

Groves was booed in and cheered out, tells you all you need to know about the fight.

Groves was acting like that to get under Froch's skin, it was all part of the plan. I've followed Groves for a long while now, that wasn't really him. That's not how he usually acts, it was all a ploy to wind Froch up.

We seen who the true clown was in the after fight interview when both of them were sat ringside together.

Also, Froch for the past 2/3 years has had Sky backing him with a big PR campaign... therefore he's become a household name. Groves is the up and comer.

People who say that are stupid. Groves wasn't totally out of it or ready to go, sure he was hurt and wobbly but he was throwing despite being hurt. Even a standing 8 count would have been considered bull**** nevermind a damn stoppage.

No standing 8 count in this fight I'm afraid, he should have been given the chance to go down and recover like Carl was though. We all got robbed by the ref on this one.

To say the stoppage was ineveitable you have to be a massive Froch dickrider. Groves was buzzed, no more than that

The British press are in Hearns pocket, they wouldn't want their press passes taken away now would they or to upset the apple cart.

Groves was robbed. He ruined Froch for 8 rounds, totally schooled him.

groves has no manager, nor a promoter, press write to keep managers and promoters happy, to keep certain privileges, froch has hearn, matchroom has a sky deal - so obviously groves was going to be fuc..d over

O'connor, the referee for Cleverly-Kovalev held Cleverly and stopped him from falling down after two consecutive knockdowns, he almost accompanied him to his corner after the 3rd as well.

So enough of the hypocrisy that referees focus on the fighter's safety first.

Feel sorry for George, he was brilliant on Saturday night. Froch is a great fighter but I have never liked him as a person. I was definitely rooting for Groves on Saturday night big time. The fight was in his pocket and he had it taken away from him.
