That´s not true. I mentioned Holyfield´s ´roid use many times in the past month and years. I also mentioned that it should influence his standings but I don´t know how exactly. I did the same in this thread. I didn´t even post a list on here, so how did you conclude Holy doesn´t exist anywhere near my top tier list? In fact, I stated in this very thread I have no lists anymore. I still stand by that Holyfield should be ranked above Tyson when looking at their body of work. But when you factor in his ´roid use, Mike ranks above him. And it doesn´t matter how much this weighs because they were close in the first place. Perhaps you should read the posts of others more thoroughly before talking bull****. :good On Liston: I agree. Maybe I underrate him a bit because others overrate him. :think On Jeffries: Well, depends what you like. Jeffries basically learned his trade while cleaning out the division. He fought all the best outside of Johnson - and the time-frame for that fight was short. He beat 2 great hws 4 times. Yep, they were both past their best but still highly regarded and very good. And he had numerous wins over top contenders, was never beaten anywhere near his prime - making him very dominant and consistent. I think he rates highly on your criterias outside perhaps skills/abilities - and that´s debatable, when you take his skills/abilities for his time they were quite decent. Personally, I don´t think there is much between Johnson and Jeffries. On Holyfield: I disagree, he is judged just fine. Most have him Top5. Some have him outside of the top10 but then, there are some who have him Top5 which evens it out.
I actually have him at #13. By going to 12 I figured that was more than called for. There seems to be a stigma that if you somehow fall outside the top 10 that you are somehow not a peer of the top 10 fighters when in fact that isn't really the case. So I did an honorable mention
1. Joe Louis 2. Muhammad Ali 3. Sonny Liston 4. Larry Holmes 5. Rocky Marciano 6. Lennox Lewis 7. Mike Tyson 8. George Foreman 9. Jack Johnson 10. Joe Frazier __________________
Holy is around 13th. Too inconsistent for me, never established a long dominant title reign. I think he was a great all around fighter, but i think he loses to the best HW champions h2h. I do give him a lot credit for fighting elite opposition though, and for beating mike tyson when he was no supposed too. The man also beat a lot of fighters whom he gave up huge size advantages too. He had some inconsistent performances, bad loss to Moorer, and went 1-4 vs Bowe and Lennox.
I haven't seen this. What I have seen is you mentioning Holyfield should being above Tyson. You had him like around #6. Now all of a sudden Tyson should be ahead. Well Tyson's changing spots. You bracket it now, and don't do number lists. You used to do lists like a month ago. Yep, obviously a new thing here. You used to be so adament about how Holyfield is underrated. And should be many spots above Liston and Tyson. Now you talk about how you always "mentioned roid use" but didn't no how to factor it. Well obviously you've figured out how to do. Seems odd though since you were so strong on Holyfield being above Tyson and underrated. Now he's not underrated, and Tyson is above him. I've read all your posts, and have the memory of an Elephant. You just can't keep track of your inconsistencies... you don't even to seem to remember your and our discussions on their ratings. That could be for the both of us. But he lacks depth. And has like 20 fights. I have trouble rating him, but don't see how he deserves to be on anyone's top 10 list.
Tyson opened as a 25-1 favorite. Closed around a 7 or 6 to 1 favorite. I don't know how he was supposed to or even thought of beating Tyson considering the circumstances. Doesn't sound like you give him that much credit if you think he was supposed to. What fighters do you have ahead of Holyfield by the way?
Huh? Have you been snorting those wasabi packets again? I said I give holyfield a lot of credit for beating mike tyson, when he was NOT supposed too.
