Career high weight :deal, flabby waistline. There is no denying he was slower and sloppier than ever before because of a combination of extra lbs and age.

Are you trying to say you believe he really WAS in his best ever shape??

His Wars with Training Camp will go down as the greatest rivalry in Boxing History....greater then Ali/Frazier, Barrera/Morales, Manfredo/Mora

The first Rahman fight was the only other time he was over 250.
    The rematch - 246.

It's only a couple of lbs, but as we all know (if we don't let hate blind us) it's not only about the numbers.
Vs Rahman and vs Vitali he was CLEARLY slower and sloppier than in any other fights due to a bit of extra weight and a LOT less conditioning. To deny that is simply either Lennox-hatred or Vitali nuthuggery.

Oh, I agree that he was definately past his prime. I can't think of a reason to try and claim other wise, except to diminish the scar he gave Vitali by making him sound better than he really was at that point. Maybe I'll try and justify Mercer's first loss, by saying that he was fighting a prime Holmes. I think I'll fit in better around here.

:good Your a smart man DREX so Im sure you dont really beleave LL took VITALY lightly ? And i also know your aware that a fighter looks as good as his competition lets him ! Ll like plenty of fighters wanted to be strong to deal with the size and strenth VITALY brought to the table in my opinion !:good He also wanted the rematch with ROCK but not with VITALY ! A good indication that he wasnt going to be better !

:rofl It seems to me youl fit in better by simply towing the line and claiming all your favourite fighters are past when given a hard fight ! LL looked just fine one fight before VITALY ! :good

According to LL fans, his prime spaced out at different points in his career. He was prime for Ruddock, what many of them consider his best win (weak)... but not prime for McCall (Even though Lewis was 29 at the time). He was not prime, or in shape for Rahman, but was at his best in the 2nd fight. Then, he was fine against Tyson (at the time, then later they try now to say he wasn't as good).... but then against Vitali he was past prime again. His prime came in waves throughout his career.

Then others... they start his prime really late in his career... after he won the rematch with McCall (around 32)... and then act like he was washed up 5 years later. I mean.. you just can't win with those guys. Lewis morphed into a different boxer every other time out. All you hear is "that version of Lennox" or "The Lennox Lewis that beat, blah blah blah". It's amazing.

The reality is that when Lewis was younger, he was in his physical prime, but was not nearly as good technically that he was later in his career. As his body matured, he became more sturdy... had better balance, and was a much more polished boxer. He still had everything that he had in his younger days, except for maybe some of his explosiveness... or I guess fervor would be a better word. However, that is what made him better. He fought smarter, and didn't make as many mistakes. He kept his bad footwork in check by not jumping around too much.

As we have seen anyways, with big guys like Wlad and Lewis... they mature much later in their careers than the smaller heavyweights. People keep comparing Lewis to retired heavyweights before him... but there weren't any heavyweights before him, that could really compare to his physical make-up. Wlad turns 32 this month and is clearly getting better and better each time out.

If you wanna call hiding behind a jab all night being better, knock yourself out. Me I'd rather say the heavyweights have been **** for a very long time now since Lewis took over. The holding biz must go.
