In fact at the end of the 6th rd it was Lewis hitting Vitali and Vitali that was hanging onto Lewis so as to not fall down, Vitali couldnt raise his arms to punch or defend himself at that point and the ref looked closely at him at the bell. He was bleeding bad at that point, his mouth was also busted up along with the 2 cuts above the eye and one cut under the eye.

Obviously Souza is towing the party line in that interview when asked about Vitali who emploed him. I wonder what he would say about it now that they sacked him after they blamed him for Wlads loss to Brewster by rubbing him down with lots of vaseline !

It was also said at the time that Souza was using illegal substances to try to stem the bleeding.

Actually I don't believe VITLAY was ducking Rahman - any more than I think Lewis was ducking VITLAY. The difference being of course that Lewis actually fought and beat VITLAY whereas VITLAY never fought Rahman.

I don't actually think that makes all that much difference to be honest but it's no more idiotic to say VITLAY ducked Rahman than it is to say Lewis ducked VITLAY, or that VITLAY retired Lewis.

    Fair enough?

That uppercut from Lewis had VITLAY out on his feet for the rest of that 6th round, Lewis was absolutely dominating at that point, but because he sat down hard on his stool the Klit fans all think he was about to be taken out :nut

That last point wouldn't surprise me either, I noticed at the time that Souza was looking over his shoulder a lot when he was treating the cut....not that it matters anyway.

I don't blame Lewis for retiring at all. Lewis is my all time favorite Heavyweight. But there is more basis for saying Lewis was ducking Vitali then there is for Vitali ducking Rahman.

He wasn't out on his feet, but he did appear to stumble into him. Both guys were dead tired though. It is more a testament to vitali for even taking that punch from Lewis....that almost took his head off.

Lewis wasnt given a rematch by Mcall after his defeat, the WBC ordered the fight for the vacant title 3 years later, he got his rematch with Rahman because he was smart enough to have a clause in the contract for one and took Rahman to court when he trie dto avoid him and fight Tyson instead. The WBC didnt grant Lewis an immediate rematch for losing like Vitali.
The Tyson fight was NOT Lewis at his best, Lewis was 3 and a half rounds between having been knocked out when he stepped in the ring with Tyson. He was 36 and slow. If you think there was no noticable decline then you obviously dont study the game as much as you like to suggest in your posts.

Nobody ever put the blame on Souza or Vaseline. That was a bunch of bull**** that was made up. Wlad simply said that he wasn't comfortable with the way that he was rubbed down with vaseline. He's a damn cutman for god's sake. Aren't fighters allowed hiring someone who's work they are comfortable with? Souza might be great for one guy, but not what another guy is looking for. If Wlad didn't like the way that he worked, it made him uncomfortable... who gives a ****? Souza CLEARLY stated himself that Wlad sat him down, and told him that he was NOT blaming him for the loss.

No there isn't BECAUSE LEWIS FOUGHT AND BEAT THE GUY AT TWO WEEKS NOTICE :patsch

Seriously, if Lewis had wanted to avoid VITLAY no-one would have blamed him for cancelling that promotion and fighting VITLAY at a later date. He didn't, he took the fight and won.

VITLAY has yet to fight Rahman.

    Those are the facts.

Watch the 6th round again, and just pretend you are neutral for a change. You'll see the effect that punch had on VITLAY, he was clinging on for dear life at the end of that round.

Rahman means nothing though. Don't you get it. :patsch So what, who the **** is Rahman. And don't say Vitali means nothing, because Vitali was viewed upon after that fight as the 2nd best Heavyweight in the world. A rematch would've been huge and if any Heavyweight fight this decade left unanswered questions....it was that one. But like I said, I don't blame Lewis at all. He fought the best his entire career and deserves to retire on top. He fought a hard fight with V Klit and won fair and square.

A bunch of bull**** that was made up, yet WALD said he wasn't comfortable with it? How many fights did he win when he'd been rubbed down with vaseline? Funny how he never mentioned this before :huh

What is the 'official' reason for that loss these days anyway, blood sugar, diabetic coma, dressing room intruders?
