Yes, I liked the way Merchant told Ledermann off during the Williams/Quintana fight!

The outcome of the fight was what it was my point was just Klitschko was beating the dog **** out of Lewis when the fight was stopped and if any one that saw that fight knows it.

Look at my other posts I am no Klitschko fan it is just the truth!

Lewis announced his retirement so he would not have to fight a rematch-simple facts.

Exactly. I bet I could beat Eric Crumble given enough training and maybe a sly bribe, and then I'd have a 100% KO record, with all of my knockouts coming in the first or second round (it is physically impossible for Crumble to survive two rounds).

This is a bad lie. Literally hundreds you say:think?

Give us some names then of fighters who were both never down from a punch, and never behind after 3 rounds who were also champions.

Not ad hoc. By asking Drexel to name fighters who were both never down from a punch, and never behind after 3 rounds who were also champions. , it prevents him from listing active fighters who had less fights than Vitlai did, and also never were Ring Magazine champions.

Let's see how many names Drexel can come up with!

It's totally ad hoc, as are all of the options except the "never been down from a punch", which is at least honest in its scope. You first proclaimed that Vitali had the greatest KO percentage of all time; you are now modifying that to mean greatest heavyweight KO percentage of a Ring magazine champion.

Now, you are asking for names to be "champions", despite the fact that he said that "Literally hundreds of fighters could claim to never have been down from a punch or never been behind after 3 rounds (what a ridiculous and contrived stat to focus on  ), so those stats are even more meaningless than the first.".

See? He didn't say that they had to be champions and that wasn't a criterium when he said that. By adding that criterium, you haven't disproved what he said at all; you've just proven that he said what he said rather than what you wanted him to say.

If I was to say "All flowers have yellow petals and green stems", and someone was to call me out on it, it would be poor argumentation for me to say "I'm right though! All flowers that are daffodils have yellow petals and green stems".

Equally, you can't say "Vitali is the only boxer never to have been down from a punch or never to be behind after three rounds", then when someone calls you out on it, say "Vitali is the only boxer never to have been down from a punch or never to behind after three rounds and also be a champion" and then "Ring magazine champion". Where does it end?

David Haye is the only boxer ever to have scored a first round knockout. He's als the only boxer even to have been ahead on points by the end of the 8th round. That's an amazing statistic.

Kurgan, you are being silly now. This thread's topic is spot on. Vitlai has the best KO% among heavyweight champions, he is one of two heavyweight champions never to be knocked down by a punch, and his scorecard domination is such that he was never down on the cards in any of his fights after three rounds.

Show me ANY fighter who can match all three, and then we can talk. You can’t. No one can.

There are no heavyweights who can match Vitali's outstanding stats, and for that, he deserves to be considered as a great fighter overall. The only criticism that I have, and this is not by any means a hate campaign, is that his competition needs to be held in question. Sure, I give him credit for all of his wins, and in fact, he did beat some very good fighters, but I think we can both agree that he never truly defeated a solid champion who was either at or near prime.

George Foreman for example, at least destroyed Joe Frazier, who wasn't at his peak, but fairly close to it. He also handedly defeated good contenders like Lyle and Norton who WERE peak. His comeback knockout at age 45 over Michael Moorer was pretty impressive too, albeit Moorer had a questionable chin.

Now I'm not saying that Vitali has to be on par with Foreman or any other puncher to be considered a great fighter. All I'm saying is that we have to take his stats with a small grain of salt, but nevertheless I agree that his stats and acheivments were impressive. If he somehow manages to get an upset win over Samuel Peter, given the circumstances, he should surely deserve to be bumped up a level higher.

    Fair?

If he sent Lewis into retirementthat would be a milestone in his career. It's not a statistic.

    His KO percentage is impressive.

I'm also not sure that he sent Lewis into retirement either. Just because he happened to be the last fighter Lewis ever faced does not imply that he "retired" him. That's sort of like saying that Archie Moore retired Marciano, or that Floyd Cummings retired Joe Frazier.

    Empty claim.

The most impressive Vitaly stat is probably 90%.

That seems to be the amount of people on this board who think he is going to beat Sam Peter, iff he even gets in the ring again  .

Seriously though, his knock out % is pretty impressive and the not knocked down one isn't bad either.

Never behind after 3 rounds or whatever it was, I don't know, that seems like some stat arbitrarily made up solely for Vit Klit.

Might be true but its nothing to hang ones hat on.

The one big x-factor in all of his stats though is competition.

Vit Klits just doesn't have the names on his resume to hold those stats in high regard.

The 2 best fighters he faced, he lost to. I know, I know, they weren't emphatical defeats or anything, but he still came up short.

His wins are over opponents who really don't hold up against most champions from the past.

Johnson and Sanders are probably his best wins and one came in way too fat and one was clearly past his best. What Vk did do though was knock them both out, KJs being impressivly, credit due there.

Williams, not a bad heavy but no biggie either. The beat down Vit Klits put on him was noteworthy.

Donald-far past his best, Hide-never did much in the division and had seen better days. Hell I don't even know who else he beat thats noteworthy in the least.

Atleast oh VK did stop all of those guys and for that he should be commended.

But VK just didn't fight enough relevant guys to make him out to be anything more than a good fighter who didn't do all he could have.

50 years from now Wlad will be remembered as the best of his time period and possibly a top 25 or higher heavyweight.

Vit Klit will be remembered mostly as his brother who wasn't too bad in his own right.

    Your original post was this.

If you lose by cuts from a punch, it is a LOSS. Unfortunate or not, ahead or behind on the cards, ahead on Compubox or not, it is a real LOSS.
