:good You realize that the KLIT hate here is completely irrational dont you ! And that taking points out of context and outright lying is the norm here ! In fact according to most of these guys just about every champ in the last 50 years or so is an ALL TIME GREAT right up until the KLITS ! The devision suddenly turned to mud in their eyes ! Dispite the obvious evidence to the contrary ! :yep

imo the 3rd is the most impressive of the 3. Now i'm a huge Vitali fan but had the Lewis fight not been stopped by the ref, odds are he would have lost on points or retired in his corner.

Never being behind on cards is really a testament to how good he could have been but unfortunately his potential was never fulfilled due to injury trouble.

Also the fact is that Lewis was out of shape in that fight.

There should have been a rematch but there wasn't. Vitali could have gone on to create a great legacy without Lewis but his body failed him.

I'm 45 and I've been watching boxing all my life. I've never heard of a stat of who has and hasn't been ahead on the score cards in x number of fights after three rounds. Where the hell has this come from?

How about who's been ahead after 4 rounds? How about 5 rounds?

How about who hasn't lost on a Sunday after 9:00PM?

This is the most ridiculous question I've seen in ages.

The fact is V.K's lost twice due to TKO's which pretty much amount to the same thing as a KO. In fact TKO's were invented to help pad the losers record and make it seem less significant than it was. So boxers who were in danger of getting KO'd instead of going down on their shields, would simply stay in their chairs and claim they weren't KO'd.

Had the Lewis - Klitschko fight continued, it was highly probable that he would have lost an eye so I for one was happy to see the stoppage, and you'd pretty much have to have hated the guy to have wanted him to continue.

Chavalo lost may fights by TKO too, but I remember with the Foreman fight if it wouldn't have been stopped, he would have been KO'd, as he was basically out on his feet, not replying to Foreman's bombs, so it would have just been a matter of time.

So to say Vitali hasn't been KO'd is, in my opinion, using a technicality to support a particular conclusion, as he most likely would have been, but for the stoppage. Also one should keep in mind, it wasn't just the one cut over his eye that was a problem, he was also swallowing a considerable amount of blood due to the number of cuts in and around his mouth..so there were a number of factors pointing towards a brutal loss, including the fact that he'd lost the last round on all 3 scorecards and was on the receiving end of some hellacous uppercuts.

technicality or not the fact is that he has never been knocked down in the ring.

Astute boxing fans keep track of the scorecards. The best boxers of all times are great on the score cards because they outclass their man. Let's use Ali as an example. I am not saying Vitlai is greater. Re-read that last sentance twice. I am using Ali as an example because as a fan for 45 years, you have seen most of his fights. I'll assume....

Ali lost plenty of rounds to lesser guys like Doug Jones, Chavalo, Cooper, Mildenberg, etc... Vitlai is very dominant in the ring. Fighters fear him, can't out land / out box him, can't out slug him, or cant throw more' punches. Oh, and Vitlai makes them miss plenty too. Please explain why Ali who is considered #1 or #2 of all time was not as dominant on the cards. Vitlai crushes the 2nd rate title guys who gave Ali fits like eggshells.

If you can name another champion heavyweight who was never down after 3 rounds on the score cards, please list his name here. He does not exist.

In fact, I'm not sure if you can name ANY fighter who was as dominating on the score cards who was also a champion and had at least 30+ fights. Maybe Clazaghe, but I hear he had a close fight that could have been ruled as a draw.

What I always found funny is that they hold Lewis is such high regard, and act like he was so great to be a True Champion... only threw the years of 2000-2003. Yet, as soon as he retired the division sucks and if you are on top of it, you are only on top of a division that sucks. Then what exactly does it mean for Lewis to have been Champion? He was Champion during an even worse time. The same guys are still around that were around then, and there are even more fighters involved now. Makes no sense. If the division sucked because Lennox left... then him being Champion over a sucky division makes him a worthless Champion.

Personally... I feel that the division is strong. Definitely stronger now than it was when Lewis was considered the Champ. During the time when Lewis' division was considered "tough" nowadays... Lewis never fought any of the top 5 fighters. So, you can't even make an argument for him then either.

What he was saying is... he has never been behind in a fight that lasted longer than 3 rounds. Not just the scorecards of rounds 1, 2, and 3. It is a valid point. He has never been behind on the cards at the end of any fight that lasted further than 3 rounds. Not that hard to understand. The only fight that you could say he was behind when it ended was against Hide, who he may have given up the first round against... and then knocked Hide out in the second.

Get the point? In other words... Vitali was never outboxed, no matter who he faced.

Well he's got two TKO losses under his belt so if you want to argue sematics go ahead. Bottom line is he lost those two fights and no amount of spin is going to change it. And if rationaling it and calling them TKO's makes you feel better about the losses..have at it.

I'm not sure the stats even exist to compute this..this is simply an arbitary stat. What's so special about 3 rounds, verses 4 rounds or 5 rounds, and why does who is ahead of who at a particular point even matter until the fights over?

So what if Vitali was a head on points after 3 rounds when he fought Lewis, it still goes down in the record books as a TKO loss. I don't even really get your point. You want to give Kudo's to a guy who at one point was ahead in every fight but still managed to loose twice ...strange idea, my friend, strange idea.

You obviously didn't read the rest of my post. The first part was to point out that his most recent performances within a 3 year period were not in anyway shape or form an indication to suggest that he was anywhere near his prime. In doing so, I forgot to list Franscois Botha, which wasn't a particularly great win anyway.

In a later part of my post, I clearly pointed out that Lewis fought only 2 times within a 26 month period, which isn't especially active, particularly when his last fight was 12 months earlier. Vitali, fought exactly 3 times within 18 months prior to facing Lewis, which in my opinion is significantly more active than fighting twice in over two years.

It wasn't flawed logic, only how you chose to interprit the post.

In either case, Lewis was past his prime, and this much anyone should be able to agree on, weather you're a klit fan or a Lewis fan. Common sense really.

Nobody said that. However, Vitali clearly wasn't in danger of going down gainst Byrd with two rounds left, while comfortably ahead. He is just from a different place. It is more of a sport than proof of a "warrior spirit" where he comes from. Besides that, he is a smart guy and realized that he was just further damage his shoulder and risk ruining his career.

Second... against Lewis he wasn't down or out either. Lewis was much closer to being dropped in that fight than Vitali ever was. Check round 2 if you don't remember.

Nobody is saying that he never lost. However, I think it is fair to judge by the way that he lost... that he was never the lesser man in the ring.

Yet he managed to loose twice..kudo's I suppose for being ahead in every fight but still managing to loose two...

I've heard of clutching at straws before but this is ridiculous.

Vitali was a tough guy in the ring, who can throw heavy leather and take it as well, he was the older, much tougher brother. Though at one time I liked him, and actually rooted for him to beat Lewis, I now strongly dislike him, he has screwed over fans and other fighters for the last 3+ years, and now is trying to come back and get a title fight after all these years? I hope King ****s him over, I cant think anyone more deserving of taste of his own medicine, by making sure he never gets a shot at King owned fighter, let him fight Wlad if he wants a belt so bad.

That's news to me..I was under the impression when you were TKO'd and had numerous stitches to the face and looked like you were in a car accident, you were in fact "the lesser man in the ring"

Certainly he lost the fight, so that pretty much speaks for itself.
