Welter - Middle - Supermiddle - Light heavy Always excited when the main guys in these division are fighting
Agree. This division has always attracted great boxers, even middleweights fought there (Ketchel, Langford, RJJ, Toney). Not mentioning boxers who could have fought at LHW or CW and chose HW div instead.
I can't decide between Heavyweight and Welterweight. I think both weightclasses had the greatest athletes in boxing ever, maybe together with Middleweight. But I guess I choose the heavys because of guys like Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Sonny Liston, Floyd Patterson, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson and all the great fights like the Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manilla. Personally I don't think that any other weightclass can compete with such events, even if you consider the war between Hearns and Hagler at Middleweight (I think) or Duran and Leonard at Welterweight. The Heavyweight division also has the most media attention (well, mostly in the past), which kinda makes it a favorite for most casual fans. In the end it doesn't really matter, you can find great fights in any division^^
My all time is heavyweight, because I grew up watching Larry Holmes, my all time favorite fighter. It might not be the greatest division from a resume, historical perspective but you didnt ask for that you asked from yuor favorite all time.
I'd say Welter or Middle because there are lots of men out there that can fight at that weight, which causes it to be very competitive. Recognition is hard won. When these smaller guys bring it, they have enough in the tank to throw down, round after round. Thats what makes it great to watch. Heavyweight is always exciting to see big guys landing big shots, but you don't see as many large guys who are equally athletic, and can move and have agility as in the lower weight classes. Fights can be slower, and boring until someone lands a big shot.
