If you look at Ward and how he can change from orthodox to southpaw anytime in the fight. He can fight on the inside and outside with no problems. If he finds a problem with a fighter, he can change his style.

The same goes with Mayweather. Mayweather never really needs to change anything in the fight as nobody really ever troubles him enough.

I don't think there's many fighters outside of them two who can do it comfortably at the moment.

So I'd say both of them are truly elite in all terms.

Martinez is a good but he doesn't possess the skills them two do. I think Marquez has the skills, ability, ring IQ to give anyone around his weight a problem, but he does get hit.

So i'd say he was up there with the ''elite'' fighters, but he does get hit a lot.

Athletics & chin aren`t skills either.

OK, Chavez ability to slip punches & counter inside was as good as any fighter ever, all of his punches were very accurate & that only comes through great technique, his body punching was up there with anyone in history, particularly the left hook, his right hand from distance was so quick & accurate he didn`t need a jab half the time to set it up & land it cleanly... his feet were always in position for both attack & defense, he was rarely caught off balance... he was one of the best & most fluid combination punchers in history, extremely accurate with speed & power.

Chavez was also one of the best ever at cutting off the ring & making you fight on his terms, cutting off the ring is an extremely difficult skill to master, it takes excellent footwork (especially vs elite fighters)

You may have noticed that I used the words `one of the best ever at` while talking about Chavez skills in the ring, that`s because he was one of the best ever, period... there are a lot of qualities to learn in boxing & JCC was `up there` with anyone in a lot of categories.

Chin, stamina, heart, drive, record title defences, ring record etc are not skill but those were other things that Chavez had/has that compares with any fighter in history... oh yes & being the consensus best ever from Mexico too.

Chavez was elite in every sense of the word & if he was boxing today would be the p4p no1.

    All true ^

    You should use comma`s.

You shouldn`t use the names money & sexy when referring to fmj & Martinez, its just wrong on every level.

Good post I agree with most of what you said...I did not say athletics and chins were skills however...I stated his chin was great...I did not believe he was athletically talented...that does not subtract from him being an elite fighter in my eyes...

    Very good post brother.
