That just isn't true. Most here use it in a relative term, and I know that despite my relatively vast expirence I would be whooped by a lot of the HW's I call complete and utter bums for instance, because in relative terms they just are and in many cases shouldn't share the same ring with their opponent. I totally agree with that part :yep
Someone who disrespects and calls boxers cowards yet have never had the courage to even spar in their lives, that is the definition of a bum.
This is one of the 3 ways to use the term bum in my opinion. The other 2 - A complete brawler with little to no boxing ability that you see on low level undercards, usually reserved for prospects with only a couple fights under their belt. To act as if these types don't exist is naive. I would honestly have no problem stepping in the ring with some of the bums out there because I would also be considered a bum lol. It is also used simply as an insult or criticism. I'm a baseball fan and I call A-rod a bum when his stats (whether they should count or not) say otherwise. People shouldn't take it too seriously, like another poster said boxers call eachother bums all the time, it's just boxing slang.
Really it should be only for the guys who never managed to make a name for themselves, or maybe those with a higher loss to win ratio. Far from the guys we talk about consistently here, although most of us are guilty of calling name brand fighters and such a bum.
i call gary russel jr a bum because the level of opposition he is facing is way too below his talent level.
they dont know the hard work done....and those who are naysayers are keyboard warriors. the mighty QWERTY ones...
