C.J. Agreed. I remember watching one of his fights on ESPN, in which he was robbed of at least a draw, because the scorecards were read wrong and Teddy Atlas went berserk. Emmanuel always put me in the mind of Aaron Pryor (who's my all time favorite) with his relentless pressure and tenacity. Burton always struck me as someone who truly loved boxing, win or lose.
Over half of the loses Emmanuel had on his record were because he was robbed. When you have decent management they can protest bad decisions. Burton had none. He beat Ward and was robbed, and he beat plenty others and was robbed. His record totally did not reflect his ability.
You have to remember that Professional Boxing is one of the few sports or jobs in the world where you can make a decent living out of losing all the time, the polite way is to call them journeymen but they're also called bums or tomato cans. Some Journeymen are better then others and i guess that transfers into the highest levels of boxing.
A guy who goes on an Internet message board and calls professional fighters a bum and other disrespectful names.
@Jas I've seen boxers and trainers refer to other fighters as bums, don't agree, but it's one of those phrases that's become synonymous with boxing. He'll I've even heard trainers refer to other trainers as bums.
:good Which means, two fighters Khan dealt with Paulie and Maidana are utter bums at the bare minimum, and being that they both beat Broner...OH MY GOODNESS, what is he? :rofl:rofl:rofl
