When PBF knocked out Hatton. With the classless British fan and all, it was just great to see Ricky get owned.
watching live: Lennox's post-fight interview after the vitali fight and the tug of war over the microphone. that made me a fan of his right away! "Look at the state of his face. I defineltely would have retired him." And merchant was asking the perfect questions to **** him off even more. u could tell he was seriously pissed when the crowd errupted for vitali after the fight. dude has one of the biggest egos ever. i knew nothing about boxing then but i thought he was really funny. so i began to follow boxing. i watched lewis' old fights and began to appreciate what a great fighter he was.
the whole atmosphere and the results of Sugar Ray vs Duran 1....I like how Duran didnt choke or flinch or get taken in by the whole Madison Hype machine and prevailed. I remember being a kid and the whole family everyone sitting around and wondering. You couldnt get PPV like now back then, but we all wondered how things might be going. Then a news announcer from one of the networks came on and said "after four rounds it has been all Duran" and everyone jumped and cheered and hugged that to this day is my alltime favorite boxing moment.
Another one of my favorite moments was the Hatton/PBF fight. One of my buddies threw a huge party and everybody was on their feet for that entire fight. Half the place wanted PBF to win and half Hatton. Lots of screaming and shouting through the first 6 rounds, then total chaos when Ricky went down
the sad thing for me is that i don't have cable and there is only one or two places that pick up the ppv's in town (and they only pick up the big ppv's) so I end up seeing all my fights on you tube after the fact. Im sure I would have so many more great momments to speak of but I always know whats going to happen before I watch the fight.
I'm young and wasn't alive when it happened but when I watch Ali knocking out Foreman, it's something different entirely. Nobody thought it would happen and they were all watching it live in Zaire. Incredible. :happy
Mosley-DLH first fight and JLC-Corrales. Mosley-DLH turned me from a boxing fan to a fanatic. JLC-Corrales was just an amazing fight. Somone close to me died the day before the fight and I wasn't even going to watch it, but I wanted to take my mind off things. The tenth round was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
