I'm not sure I would classify MAB-Hamed as an upset.....I can't recollect what the media, or boxing fans were saying pryor to the fight....It goes down as one of the greatest ownages in boxing history....however I thought this was at least slightly thought of as an outcome hence no upset
I always knew Hopkins was gonna win that one, he's a big guy and was never going to get knocked out which is how people thought Tarver was gonna win at the time, Tarver has always been fragile mentally and Hopkins is a rough guy. My favourite upset was Maussa vs Vivian Harris, that fight was hilarious, i almost pissed myself laughing when Harris got KO'd by this bum who then charged at him trying to punch him on the ground after headbutting him all fight Nonito Donaire vs Vic Darchinnyan was also good.
The thread isn't about the biggest upsets, it's about your favorite upsets. It clearly states this in the title. There isn't much to interpret. I remember that Hopkins/Tarver fight vividly. A lot of people thought it was a forgone conclusion that Tarver would win, he wasn't a 3-1 favorite for nothing. It's not very easy to go up two weight classes and beat a legitimate fighter. All the excuses in Tarver's favor didn't occur until after Hopkins beat him with relative ease.
Was a great win for Phillips. Him getting the stoppage when behind on the cards also made it more so impressive. Tszyu has quoted many times that he didnt peak until after that loss.It allowed him to see his weakness etc. I always found that strange. But he has mentioned it everytime he gets asked about that fight. I miss Kostya.Real class act.
Tyson vs Douglas. No one actually predicted a Douglas win here, much more a KO. Campbell vs Diaz. Again, very very few got this right. Who would have thought that a 37 yrs old boxer can dominate the undefeated Diaz by playing Diaz's own game.
